Does anyone know if any mature-age house music is played around seoul?

Or if anyone like MAW/Joe claussell/Krivitt/Osunlade etc is scheduled to play here soon?

Not that I have heard of, I doubt the likes Masters at work would come here, its rare enough they play anywhere as a duo these days and it wouldnt happen here.. although i wish it would..

I was lucky enough to catch Louie Vega in Bangkok a few months back, but was quite disappointing as he was playing a totally different sound to what he played back home only a month or two previous..

I hope there is some good soulful/jazzy house out here, ill keep an eye out

Well yes there are big names playing here... but perhaps not so many of your style (and if you're comparing with japan, forget it!!). I love the music by Osunlade and MAW... but I'm not a real fan of it on the dancefloor. I heard a 7hr set(!) from MAW in the UK and nearly fell asleep. So for me it's great to play on the stereo at home. Certainly that laidback style isn't so popular here.

However there are names coming, this week for example felix da housecat is playing in seoul (w) you've also Stephane pompougnac from Hotel Costes coming in next week on the 15th. so it ain't all that bad.
ian pooley the next (tool). all highly rated dj's. plus london electricty are coming too... now i know that's not house, but they do a killer live set, hard to miss that one... certainly one for my diary.

i'm a dj myself and i try to play decent stuff, whether it's for a warm up set (and i'd probably be playing stuff you like), to more peak time stuff

do you play out here?

I don't mind drum'n'bass or that north london style of broken beat that people like kaidi tatham and mark de clive lowe, bugs in the attic do

ian pooly from what i understand basically plays house these days

in the right context US style house can really work - a decent sound system helps and probably a reasonably refined sense of musicality

Yes i play here. mostly corporate sponsored parties, they are often the only parties where there is enough money to actually get someone decent - yet the crowd is often not a great one. but it depends on price, venue, night, djs etc etc.. we all know that.

anyway my next party is this friday at Garden, apgu (I think, if i remember right)
Then on Saturday (for free!) as it's in support of the Women's Film Festival (btw all proceeds go to that too) and that's at Monghwan Shinchon.

I have seen him a few times, and he always played house.. so no real shock there for me..

yes for sure it can work amazingly well, look at people who go crazy for morillo and such. Indeed i never said otherwise.

what is the US sound anyway? chicago? vocal? soulful?? funky? at the end of the day there's good music and bad music, and everyone has there own take on that.

bmx or gci....now that's old folks house music. and if you don't know what that is, you're most likely not from chicago, and have no idea what and where the warehouse was.

ah the mid-80's in the midwest.......nothing like it before or since (do I sound old or what?lol)
