I was thinking about picking one up. The going rate in the US is $300 for a 30gb. If you have one, do you find 30gb to be large enough, and the video/sound quality sufficient?
Or, if you have another brand of the same type of thing, please share. |

The size is great, of the ipod that is. The battery life is better for the price than that of the 30. The video is tough tto get working, and of you use files not bought at itunes, it is tough to ask Apple for some help.
I do not use the video feature mostly because I have not taken the time to work things out. Itunes took me a while to figure out, guess I am a techno-boob! |

Yes, I have one but have yet to use the video feature.
I must say that I find Apple stuff very hard compared with the simplicity of PC's. |

So if I get one of the video iPods, it's going to be a hassle to get videos on it? Have any of you tried to load files that aren't from iTunes?
I Am Wrong, what does "beed" mean?

I have a 60GB video 'pod and love it (makes the interminable bus rides soooo much better). I don't think iTunes is particularly diff to use (everything on mine, music, videos and movies, came from my own CD/DVDs. I haven't bought anything from iTunes so I can't speak to that) - and I'm about as far from tech-savvy as you can be without getting carded as a luddite. |

Video ipods are lovely. I download shows all the time, convert them with applications like isquint, and watch them at gym or on the bus. There's more than enough space for the average music collector, the sound is great, and the battery life is reasonable. It's a good investment dude. |

Even though Conchis said what he wanted to say 6 times, I still have a reply that goes against his opinion. Hopefully mine can be worded well enough to sufficiently combat his technique of repetition.
Um, ipods are good, until something goes wrong with it and it is outside the warrantee (1 year). Whatever is wrong, you pay to have the ipod replaced, which costs slightly less than getting a new one. I had an ipod for 18 months when it just stopped working. Nothing had been done by me to cause this, in fact, the thing had been sitting in its dock getting relatively infrequent use for 4 months before it just stopped. I recently sent it in to be repaired (in Korea) and they said "hard drive fault", needs to be replaced. Yep, so there goes about US$700 (for all the extras) that I paid. Aside from that, it was a good product.
Oh yeah, and itunes - sux. And the fact that the ipod is set up to ONLY be used with itunes and ONLY on one computer - sux. Oh yeah, and the fact that you can't jog with them 'cos they skip - sux.
Buy something else. There's a reason why mp3 player savvy Korea is the only place where Apple doesn't have a majority market share. In fact, ipods are very unpopular in Korea. |

Wow, I was all gung-ho about buying one until I read this post of yours. I have a few questions, because I'm a bit confused.
How did it cost $700 for replacement? The 60gb iPods only cost $400.
Why does yours skip? I used to have a regular iPod (gone now, long story) and it never skipped, even when I used it on a treadmill. Is this unique to the new models?
Is there a Korean brand of video/music player you'd recommend?
Thanks,
