So if I get one of the video iPods, it's going to be a hassle to get videos on it? Have any of you tried to load files that aren't from iTunes?

I Am Wrong, what does "beed" mean?

umm...I've been extremely sick the last few days and a bit out of it. I meant to type "need to be." Most bittorrent trackers now have tons of video files in .mp4 format (ipod format) and I'm sure there are conversion programs out there for files that aren't already in .mp4 format.

As for what DanielinKorea said, those problems are not isolated to just ipods. If you have an iriver or any other brand and something goes wrong after one year, you're gonna have to pay for it to be replaced. And yes, it happens with other brands as much as it does with ipods.

Also, my ipod never skips and I use it while skateboarding.

I gotta call shenanigans on that guys post; it must have been specific to his unit.
I have jogged/ran with mine with no skipping. I have dropped mine on the floor with no skipping.
It skipped outta my pocket one time and hit the floor so hard the shell openned by mistake. I closed it back up and no problem.

Buy something else. There's a reason why mp3 player savvy Korea is the only place where Apple doesn't have a majority market share. In fact, ipods are very unpopular in Korea.
Yeah...those hutterite Japanese folk who DROOL over ipods don't know sheet.
please guy.
The reason why ipods aren't popular here is cause they're so dang big.
For two years I saw more and more kids get mp3 players and the only constant was that they kept going for smaller units.
I saw one that was literally as big as a die. I thought that was the end of it.

I know irivers are fine pieces of work. I have a friend who has a video ipod AND an iriver. He says they're basically the same and both very good/reliable. The only problem is that the iriver shows pictures WAY slower than the ipod.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you get some korean piece of crap mp3 player. I looked at a couple of larger sized korean mp3 players (20-60gigs). You pay twice as much for a korean model over an ipod.

weird

Wow, I was all gung-ho about buying one until I read this post of yours. I have a few questions, because I'm a bit confused.

How did it cost $700 for replacement? The 60gb iPods only cost $400.

Why does yours skip? I used to have a regular iPod (gone now, long story) and it never skipped, even when I used it on a treadmill. Is this unique to the new models?

Is there a Korean brand of video/music player you'd recommend?

Thanks,
Q.

Ahhh...no, the ipod (3rd gen) that I originally bought cost US$700 including a bunch of extra stuff, like the voice recording adaptor, ipod to radio thing, usb cable etc etc. It was like a package deal, soon after they first came out. Recently when I needed to get the ipod replaced they quoted me nearly 300,000 won, the price of a new one.

Mine consistently skipped when I took it jogging. When I say 'skipped' I mean I ran for 20 minutes and then it stopped. This is because they are built in with a 20 minute buffer, but it will stop if the motion is consistent.

I took it back to the shop and was told that because it is a hard drive based mp3 player, it will skip when you jog with it. I had assumed that you could take it with you like you can take flash based memory mp3 players.

Anyway...
I'm not recommending a specific Korean mp3 player..but you should check out some of these sites if you're interested Qinella.

Or just do a google search

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm sorry to hear of your illness. "Beed to me" really had me danderflusted, though. Laughing
