Fair enough point - my belated apologies. I think at the time I had been having a long-standing argument about how to dress for a hogwan job and found all the fuss a bit ridiculous, and the photo of the shoes really made me think you were obsessing, lol.

I don't know if your apology can heal the scar of having spent night upon night agonizing over your hurtful comment...

Razz

No, it was really very kind of you to offer the above explanation. Komapsumnida! ~~ ^^ #*#

I think it's fair to say that tomato's OP is based on the idea that posters give impressions to readers. No, we haven't met face-to-face, but when we post, we present 'something' to the reader. The reader 'meets' that 'something' that has been chosen to be presented. It's naive (or flat out stupid) to think readers don't have reactions and form opinions about the poster.

Most posters don't have a contrived persona. They post as themselves. If some people come in with a deliberately created character, they can't legitimately expect other people to know the difference. After all, there is no little symbol up in the corner blinking on and off to notify the reader that the post is a created character speaking, not a real person.

This is pretty obvious, common sense stuff. You wouldn't think it needed to be said.
