Rteacher,

I do remember it was one of the Northern European countries but that's as far as the memory goes for location. Regardless of location though, I remember it being a very comprehensive study that was said to be in line with other recent cell phone studies which measured rates of tumours in cell phones users against those people who didn't use cell phones. It certainly didn't seem like the kind of study sponsored by a major phone company, and I don't recall any phone companies being mentioned as sponsors for the research in the article. If I had then I too would be saying, well this study is crap then cause they're just sponsoring a study to prove what they want proven. This didn't seem to be the case.

Fine, fine...

There's a good review by the British Medical Association here.

It lists most of the recent studies. None of them provide evidence that there's a danger, though several warn that caution should be used since there is still uncertainty.

The results from the INTERPHONE study should be interesting.

Here's to the glorious handa-pone.

Is it true that given the correct "brainwashing"(original concept came out of the Korean war when the US military noticed that their NK returned serviceman were acting wierd) via microwaves, can activate the magnetite stored in your brain?

A conspiracy site also once claimed a leading Chechen rebel leader was apparently assissinated whilst chatting on his cell through a directed lethal surge/dose of microwaves.

The Palestinians were also up in arms after a number of their group(19, I think) were killed by Israelli artillery fire due to the cell companies service provider offering the military the caller/s exact location. The unerring accuracy of the Israelli gun club evaporated after the Palestinians switched to a Swedish service provider.

Outside the threat of microwaves has gotta be the boss getting hold of your number(worse than adware, gps, and the unnatural wear on one's poor brain, in one tight little bundle.)

Does anyone know if cordless phones emit dangerous radiation like cell phones do ?

I don't use my cell phone very much [due to the cost here in Australia] BUT I do use my cordless quite a lot. Am I frying the few brain cells I have left ? Should I go back to snail mail or perhaps smoke signals and message sticks ?

Yes brain "washing" was a term that first came out of the Korean war.

Yah, giving the boss your number so they can harass & monitor you at all hours. Not a wise move.

Jeez, man, did you read about that HAARP project? There have been fifty years of Tesla-like, high energy experimentation. Moving high amounts of energy without wires. And up in the atmosphere.

There can be a conduit installed up there on which to run down zaps of EMF radiation (like that produced by cellphones) to communicate with submarines, manipulate weather, disrupt brain function of the enemy and so on.

It's big budget, high amp stuff and since experiments on the effects of EMF haven't been done (or the effects aren't specific/immediate) nobody's messing with this project, which is, apparently, pretty harsh/disruptive (to something as, I imagine, as delicate as the electromagnetic balance of the earth, humans, etc.).

That's according to the site here (the negative effects and goals of the project) www.earthpulse.com (see HAARP info)

The U.S. gov't site on HAARP array is here www.haarp.alaska.edu

Great HAARP info Kirk !

Long-term mobile phone use raises brain tumor risk: study
Fri Mar 31, 10:00 AM ET

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - The use of mobile phones over a long period of time can raise the risk for brain tumors, a new Swedish study said on Friday, contradicting the conclusions of other researchers.

The Dutch Health Council, in an overview of research from around the world, last year found no evidence radiation from mobile phones and TV towers was harmful. A four-year British survey released in January showed no link between regular, long-term use of cell phones and the most common type of tumor.

However, researchers at the Swedish National Institute for Working Life said they looked at the mobile phone use of 905 people between the age of 20 and 80 who had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and found a link.

"A total 85 of these 905 cases were so-called high users of mobile phones, that is they began early to use mobile and, or wireless telephones and used them a lot," the study said.

"The study also shows that the rise in risk is noticeable for tumors on the side of the head where the phone was said to be used," it added.

Kjell Mild, who led the study, said the figures meant that heavy users of mobile phones, for instance of who make mobile phone calls for 2,000 hours or more in their life, had a 240 percent increased risk for a malignant tumor on the side of the head the phone is used.

"The way to get the risk down is to use handsfree," he told Reuters.

He said his study was the biggest yet to look at long-term users of the wireless phone, which has been around in Sweden in a portable form since 1984, longer than in many other countries.

On this issue, I remember hearing a health warning for men. They said that keeping your cellphone in your front pants pocket was bad for your sperm count. Studies have confirmed that the radio waves from your cellphone will reduce your sperm count. I got myself a belt clip for my phone and keep my phone above my hip bone.

BINGO !!!

Did You Know?

In Australia, the NUMBER ONE disease among children is brain tumors and brain cancer ... they just surpassed Leukemia

After 10 years of cell phone use, sperm count in adult males is decreased by 30%.

In Japan you are not allowed to use Cell Phones on the train.., due to 2 nd hand EMF

In England it is recommended that teenagers 16 and under refrain from unnecessary cell phone use

None of the Cell P hone Companies are insured they are all self insured ... even Lloyds of London wont insure them. Part of this is because of ...

7 State Class Action Law suits
10 Brain Cancer Lawsuits
2 Workmans Comp Lawsuits in California

Hidden in new Verizon Cell Phone contracts in the fine print ... upon signing this contract you agree not to sue the Cell Phone Maker or participate in a Class Action Law suit

With 500 minutes of Cell Phone use per month you have a 300% increased probability of developing brain cancer

There are 40,000 to 50,000 new cases of brain tumors and eye cancer per year attributed to Cell Phone use.

The average kid uses a Cell Phone 2,600 minutes per month

lf the current trend continues there will be 500,000 new cases of tumors per year by the year 2010.

5 years ago, the Disney Corporation turned down a $2 million per year licensing fee for the use of Disney Characters ... they just signed a $2 billion contract with Sprint

Mobile phone users warned of lightning strike risk
Thu Jun 22, 9:06 PM ET

LONDON (Reuters) - People should not use mobile phones outdoors during thunderstorms because of the risk of being struck by lightning, doctors said on Friday.

They reported the case of a 15-year-old girl who was using her phone in a park when she was hit during a storm. Although she was revived, she suffered persistent health problems and was using a wheelchair a year after the accident.

"This rare phenomenon is a public health issue, and education is necessary to highlight the risk of using mobile phones outdoors during stormy weather to prevent future fatal consequences from lighting strike injuries," said Swinda Esprit, a doctor at Northwick Park Hospital in England.

Esprit and other doctors at the hospital added in a letter to the British Medical Journal that usually when someone is struck by lightning, the high resistance of the skin conducts the flash over the body in what is known as a flashover.

But if a metal object, such as a phone, is in contact with the skin it disrupts the flashover and increases the odds of internal injuries and death.

The doctors added that three fatal cases of lightning striking people while using mobile phones have been reported in newspapers in China, South Korea and Malaysia.

"The Australian Lightning Protection Standard recommends that metallic objects, including cordless or mobile phones, should not be used (or carried) outdoors during a thunderstorm," Esprit added.

They freak if they don't constantly have it in thier hands.

I think there is some truth to the whole concept.

I was riding on an inter-city bus the other night during a lightning storm. Have long been aware of these claims re: electrical strikes.

Glued to it as she was, the neurotick K-chick i was sitting beside spent most of the time either toying with her phone, playing games, sending text messages, or chatting.

Your point re: addiction is well taken.

Cell Phone Signals Excite Brain, Study Finds
Mon Jun 26, 12:30 AM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Cell phone emissions excite the part of the brain cortex nearest to the phone, but it is not clear if these effects are harmful, Italian researchers reported on Monday.

Their study, published in the Annals of Neurology, adds to a growing body of research about mobile phones, their possible effects on the brain, and whether there is any link to cancer.

About 730 million cell phones are expected to be sold this year, according to industry estimates, and nearly 2 billion people around the world already use them.

Of these, more than 500 million use a type that emits electromagnetic fields known as Global System for Mobile communications or GSM radio phones. Their possible effects on the brain are controversial and not well understood.

Dr. Paolo Rossini of Fatebenefratelli hospital in Milan and colleagues used Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or TMS to check brain function while people used these phones.
