if you guys want to pitch in let me know.
I currently operate two websites: one for my family and one for personal use. I plan on using the personal use space as an English link, worksheet, board reference. If you would like to contribute by sending in links to great "English related" sites, you will be able to do so. I should have a ROUGH site up within the next week.
I am definitely a beginner when it comes to webpage building (only use frontpage), so any help is and will be greatly appreciated. I haven't seen something like this as a source of reference for us foreigners. The worksheets and lessons should be downloadable and printable once i get done with them.
Any information taken as a donation will be credited to that individual (i.e. worksheets, lessons, handouts, etc.).
Thanks all and I will post up a link in a few days. |

I have two blogs as well. One for personal use and one for students. I am on the verge of re-vamping the one for students so I would be really interested in sharing links, worksheets, info, whatever. I was already going to "borrow" the links you put up for that other post the other day.
I should have the new look done by Monday, hopefully after that we and and anybody else can really help each other fill the sites with as much useful material as possible.
Cheers. |

Can you recommend a good free or cheap web hosting service? |

definitely. I use Directnic.com. It's $15USD a year. if you want it to be bannerless as well, add another (IIRC) $10. I have two sites from them and will be adding a third shortly.
Never had a problem with them; great customer service. I've been using them since 2000. |

for making a student site I would recommend using Moodle as it will allow you to do so much with very little knowledge. All you need is a host with php and a mysql database.
If you want advice or help send me a pm and we can arrange something - I've done loads of paid work setting up sites for teachers. |

One idea I've been toying with is an interactive fiction game where the kids need to research websites find hidden clues which leads them along the story arc.
For example, they sign up to a crime solving agency website, and then get an email of a help note from the agency. The note has big grammatical errors and if they correct them the excess letters make up the next website.
I dropped the idea, cause I teach girls and murder mysterys arent the most interesting things for them Would work well with boys though! |
