For those who missed it, someone gave us this link:

http://www.weeklyworldnews.com/features/chamber/61645

It is a story about the tobacco industry suing those who breathe second-hand smoke:

I hope the Korean people don't see that.
If they do, they will sue us for all the free Korean instruction we've been getting.

Our services as English instructors round off to something like 15000 weon per hour.
That comes out to something like 4 weon per second.
Think about all the free listening practice you get from vendors who speak to you in Korean!
You owe about 4 weon to any vendor who gives you the price in Korean.
You owe about 8 weon to any clerk who says " ο͵帱?"

Of course, any vendor who speaks to us in English owes us 4 weon per second.
And any adult who comes up to you and says, "ĵ " owes you about 8 weon.

We might come out about even with the adults, but the children can really fleece you.
Every time a child asks you, "̱ Դϱ?" you need to deposit 8 weon in that child's college fund.
And the tally adds up even higher if you answer them in Korean.

And don't forget to consider everything you overhear.
When a hydaephone rings and someone says, "," the meter ticks again.
When children run away from Mommy and Mommy says, "̸ ," the meter ticks again.

And think of all the free education you're getting from the printed word!
If you looked up and found that it meant "Flea Market," you're sponging off the advertising circular business every time you glance at one of their street-corner receptacles.
Every time you glance at a sign that says , you owe money to a flower shop. Every time you glance at a sign that says , you owe money to a drugstore.
And it staggers the mind to think of how our supermarket bill will add up. Every time you look at all those 's, you owe money to the Seoul Milk Company.

We'd better pack up before we lose all we have!

Yes, but you forgot to add up all the children that say Hello or Hi to me everyday. I should be a millionaire... in dollars.

tomato,

It took me two minutes to read and understand/comprehend your post (I'm a slow learner). You have educated me. However, you have 'taken' two minutes of my valuable weekend drinking time. Therefore, I am in a quandry as to whether I owe you W500, or you owe me W500. Which is it? Confused

Cheers,
CM

PS If I owe you, I'll mail a check.
