Hi there,

I was wondering if at any point during the application process if I am going to have to send in my passport to the school in Korea in order to get a visa? I'm asking because I plan to do some international traveling before going to Korea and I want to make sure I'll have my passport back in time in order to do that.

Thanks.

Never surrender your passport to anyone. ANYONE. Your hogwan director may request later that you turn it over. DON'T! Your passport belongs to the issuing country. Keep it in your possession. No ifs, ands, or buts.

No. All you will need to do is send them a copy of the page in your passport which has your picture and personal information on.

Near the end of the process, you WILL need to send your passport to the Korean consulate to get the visa stamp.

Typically, this will happen about one week before they (the school) expects you to arrive here. Send off the passport, wait a few days, get it back and get on the plane asap.

Passports should never go to countries without their owners, but you will have to hand it over to the Korean consulate in your home country for a few days for the visa, and to the immigration office here to get your arc

That's what I was thinking. OP, scan your passport photo page and send that in an email to perspective employers.

This is a pre-emptive strike; don't send them your original degree either, or anything original for that matter.

It might be a good idea to send ORIGINAL transcripts when requested - but yes - everything else should be scans or copies.
