You kids are funny. Dave changes his picture and it starts multiple threads on multiple message boards.
A new server is being built for this site, which will fix the critical errors and make the whole thing move a lot faster. It's more difficult to do than you might think, and the technology running this site is more complicated than meets the eye. It's taking some time.
In the midst of this, Dave and I decided to rejig the home page a bit. There used to be 3 boxes, and all the job links were in the box labelled "Stuff for Teachers." This was never entirely right, as people looking to hire also needed these links. Seeing how this is the most popular stuff on the site it should be properly labeled.
So I made another box called "Jobs!"
And in the midst of this I remembered that the original plan was to change Dave's pic every 6 mos to a year for fun and to keep the page fresh visually. This never happened and 2 years went by. Also, the pic that was up there was a composite I made in photoshop. I got the perspective wrong, and Dave's kids made fun of him cos his arms looked so big and buff.
So I suggested to Dave that he get his wife to take a new pic of him and send it along, and I would put it in when I reworked the page.
He protested cos of the beard but I talked him into it. Personally I get a kick out of the picture. It's totally not what you would expect on this site, which is a good thing.
So this is what goes on behind the scenes and how executive decisions are made at the Sperling Empire.
Now I know you guys are having fun and it's grand to tease Dave on his site, but remember, he's also human. I'm not saying you have to treat him like a God but he is a great guy and a good friend and he has feelings just like anyone else.
Having said that, he is a vengeful sort and everyone in this thread will have their PM's sent to immigration and their accounts terminated. |

1) I think Cap'n Haddock is a swell character and I only meant it in the most complimentary of ways.
2) Make an example of jajdude! Make an example of jajdude!

Rightly so. Cap'n Haddocks the man.
I like the old picture better though. |

Well, I didn't know Dave was the Old Testament sort of deity. I will try to sacrifice something in my refrigerator in appeasement.
I guess it's better that he updates his picture periodically than pulling an Ann Landers, who kept using the same picture she took in 1956 for decades. Or Queen Elizabeth, who seemed to age an awful lot on the Canadian money between her 1954 and her 1986 poses!
