Although I attended school in the States for a few years as a kid, I don't know what's wrong (if anything) with American schools.
With Canadian schools I know what's wrong: they've haven't decided what the goal of education is. Are we teaching people to learn and think for themselves? Are we training people to work in some defined or undefined industry? Are we teaching creative thinking? Critical skills?
In short, we don't know what the hell kind of outcome we want and we keep fudging about how to get there. |
