Both Saipan and Guam have
great RT airfares but are not often mentioned
on this board. What's the skinny?
Has anyone ever traveled to either of these
island getaways? Any tips? If you've been
to both, which do you prefer? |

Last time I checked, they were thinking of renaming Saipain, "Seoul: The Sequel' |

I've been to Guam.
Go with a package including hotel, but skip all tours provided.
The flights are very inconvenient, leaving at 11pm or so and arriving at 1-2am (and that counts as 2 days!!). Pay for an extra couple of hotel days to make it worthwhile. Get a hotel on the beach. We stayed at the Hilton, worth it. Snorkling, pools, buffets=heaven!!
Also the biggest Walmart (K-mart?) in the world. |

Guam was fantastic for the scuba diving and shopping.
I don't know about the rest as I stayed well away from the main tourist area. |

Thanks for the tips. Guam sounds better with the
exception of the late air arrival. |

they are hard to get to "package tour" destinations. guam has too much military. most teachers on a budget would rather go to SE Asia where it's cheaper, the diving is as good and there is generally more to do. from seoul, you can get to the phillipines in 3 hours or 5 hours to thailand/malaysia... |
