|
|
Hi all,
I am looking for an intermediate Korean class in Daegu. I have searched extensively on the internet and e-mailed and or called everyone listed for classes. Most of the information is outdated or for some of other reason not accurate.
I have heard that there are lessons at the YMCA but when I called I got no reply from the proported organizer and a hang-up from the actual YMCA. I have also heard that there are some lessons at local libraries. But I am looking for specifics: days, times, levels, and directions.
So if you or someone you know has current information please let me know.
Thanks |

the YMCA course is pretty good for it's cost. you are best off to visit them in person rather than call because they are short staffed on weekdays...especially regarding english speakers.
as far as i remember, classes run from 11-1 on saturdays, for 3months for about 80,000 plus books. there are also weekday classes, but i don't know what time.
the new term has probably already begun, but they allow late comers.
you will have to do a level test before they can determine what class you should be in. for that, you have go to the info desk on the second floor, 30 minutes before class time on saturday.
there is another place offering lessons, but i know relatively nothing about them.
the location is behind the Jung-Ang Police box downtown, near the KFC...kindof across the street from the YMCA.
here's info on that one...

Great. Where abouts is the YMCA? I'm new to Daegu. What metro stop is it and is it walking distance from the metro? If so I can ask and get directions from there. |

the easiest subway station to go from is BANWALDANG.
the problem is, is that the stop is mega confusing. ironically, it is brand new, so you would exprct there to be clear signage an at least some visible english translations. there are some, but you really have to look as the signs are tiny.
when you exit the station, use the exit for the SAMSUNG FINANCIAL PLAZA Building and Daegu Bank. the actual stairs to the street pass by a bookstore.
once you get up to street level, walk down the street that runs adjacent to the Samsung building. you will be heading towards the downtown shopping district.
the YMCA is about 50-100 meters down.
heres a map...

I shouldn't have any problem finding it. The metro workers at that station somehow speak English perfectly. |
