maybe it's my connection, I guess, but I can only find like 6 servers with <100 latency at any given time, and most of them are in other nearby countries or on the US military base

First person shooters aren't big in Korea. Though when some PC rooms started to stock the game, Valve decided to try jack up the price to $110US per year per computer in the establishment regardless of whether all the computers had the game or not, and began cutting off accounts being played from gaming centres.

Instead, the PC rooms that were offering it pretty collectively pulled the game and stopped offering it.



At least, that was the situation two years ago. Strangely popular with Koreans at my centre, who create their own server with a password so that they can play alone without having too many other people join their game.

Yeah, I've been kind of dissappointed that CS isn't that popular here in Korea. Usually there are about 15 servers with ping<100, although not all of them occupied by players. I don't know what it is, why MMORPGs or Strategy games appeal so much more to Koreans, but the glory and angst of team based FPSs just didn't catch or hasn't caught yet.

What you talking about holmes. They play FPS all the time.. Warrock, Special Force and there is one more thats popular.

Steam killed Counter Strike in Korea. With Steam, you have to buy the game if you want to play, and you can't cheat anymore by messing with the skins.
