I melted my friggin' spatula.

I came down with a cold over the weekend and still feel crappy as hell. Then it rained today. All day. And! Yet another hwangsa storm is coming--either tonight or tomorrow. Because of that my high school called off their day-long picnic on Thursday, which was going to give me a free day since I teach at a middle school for two hours. But no. Now it's gonna be on Monday and I'll have to spend the whole friggin' day at some friggin' amusement park in friggin' Daegu trying to hide from a Grade 1 kid who has a crush on me and follows me every friggin' place I go. So I needed some comfort food tonight. I deserve it! And I melted my friggin' spatula making pancakes. Dammitall to hell.

This --> Evil or Very Mad is for whoever put up that "Why I love spring" thread.

Erie!
I broke my spatula tonight too.
It didn't get melted but I snapped the handle off while pressing down on a grilled cheese sandwich.

Now people are starting threads on spatulas...

That's really scraping the bottom.

Have you flipped?

Well, at least you can't say it's a case of

, can you? We are having a veritible epidemic of spatula deaths. Eerie. I mean, what are the chances that three (3!) spatulas, widely separated in location, would go belly up in such a short space of time? There has to be more to it than just....dum, dum, dum...coincidence.

numie, I detect a shocking lack of empathy for my fellow grievers and me. Just what the heck do I do with half a bowl of apple pancake batter and no spatula? Hmmm? You didn't think of that when you made your jokes, did you? I had to pick strands of melted plastic off one of my sausage patties. Let's give a little friggin' respect, man!

Just north of Masan which used to be on the mainland, but pest2 insists I live on an island because I mentioned I ate black pork last week.

Well, on the WEST side of the peninsula...well, at least my portion of it...it was rainy and cloudy all day...except for about 5 minutes of sun at around 6:45 pm.

Ya-ta...I can empathize....it wasn't JUST the spatula...it was everything together! Good luck with the Grade 1 girl! Can't you lie and tell her that you have a girlfriend...or wife???? Laughing

It's worse than that. It's a boy. I teach at a boys high school. Confused This kid SHOUTS hello when I come in the room and waves his arms in the air, keeps the oddest-looking grin on his face the whole period while he stares at me, asked to touch my stomach, and insists on walking me from class back to the office. The other day my co-teacher said she thinks he's odd. Tell me about it. Oh, and he wants to introduce me to his aunt, because 'Mr. Boy is rich'. Confused

I had no idea I when I wrote my little piece that I was tapping into the Grand Cosmic Untimely Spatula Death (CUSD) phenomenon. And yes, I did cuss.

When I taught AP European History I taught my kids that if you have one example, you have nothing more than an isolated fact. If you have two examples, you have a curious coincidence. If you can find three examples, you are on to something and can use them in an essay. Now we have 4 recent and interlocked incidents. Good enough proof in my book that the cosmos is up to something.

Free World: I'm in complete disbelief! Is it possible that our resident Canadian can actually make a grilled cheese sandwich? Next you are going to tell me you've figured out how to boil water! What happened to the guy who thought making ramyun was too complicated and tiresome? My how you've grown up in the nearly 10 months you've been here! I'm very impressed. As for scaring off that grade 1 kid...I hope that Ya-ta Boy is unsuccessfuly because I smell a myriad of interesting threads in the future with this kid as a topic.
