OK - must have been bored - so I decided to finally click on the orange advertisement that continually takes up the space at the top of this forum - interested in reading about why this company can continually afford to advertise at the top of Daves forums -
but after reading through it all - qI am actually quite impressed to discover they have very cheap (low) fees for an online TEFL diploma that I can easily complete right here from the enjoyment of my own personal computer - over a few lazy weekends - or late nights (or bored mornings)...
so just interested - before I decide to send them the fee and get myself another TEFL certificate/diploma - has anyone done the course through this company - is it genuine - is it fairly simple - is it worth doing - etc etc
(I am not interested in a large discussion on whether or not teachers with TEFL certificates are better /or not than teachers without the certificates etc etc) - just interested in if anyone has done the course through THIS PARTICULAR company - what the feedback is... |

It is genuine, but as my friend who took it said, other than learning something (which is worth it), it's completely useless. It's an online certificate. Heck, online MA's from long time prestigious brick and mortar schools are still not held in a good light, let alone an online certificate that

If you are looking for credentials, forget it. If you are looking for teacher education, might be worth it. |

i have no clue about them, but i did get one from mytesl.com. they were very professional and replied to my questions and assignments in a timely manner. i think it cost maybe 260,000 won. i was happy with them, and they were enough to get a 200,000/month raise from my middle school! |

If you are serious about a career in TESOL, I wouldn't waste your money on an online course. For example in Europe the majority of jobs do not accept teachers who have not completed at least a Trinity TESOl cert course or a CELTA course. |

I actually took the online i-to-i course before I came to Korea the first time and I honestly didn't learn much. The course is set up well and the teacher that was assigned to me always graded my lessons quickly and provided support.
But in terms of it helping me out teaching here it provided nothing. And as others have said its really not worth much I just wanted to do it to get some ideas for teaching....which I really didn't. |
