Has anyone ever used Easy English Consulting? The contact guy who keeps sending me emails is Australian, which is fine. I'm just curious as to how "easy" it is and how trustworthy.

I don't understand why people ask "Is XYZ recruiter reliable/good/OK" etc..

A lot of people seem to "choose" one recruiter then wait until that recruiter finds them a job. They seem to believe that that recruiter is 'working for them'. The only person working for you, is YOU. All the recruiter is is a person who puts you in contact with a school and takes a commission for the service.

YOUR job is to (1) look at the work conditions (as laid out in the contract) and see if you like it. If you do, then (a) speak to someone already there to check it out, and if that is also OK, then (2) Sign the contract and come to Korea.

If you don't like it, wait until you get a better offer.

Do NOT "sign up" with one recruiter. Sign up with 100 different ones and tell them what YOU'RE looking for in a job (place/pay/living arrangements). When you find what you want, take the job.

Your relationship with your 'recruiter' is pretty much over when you arrive in Korea. You need to make a relationship with your future boss, not some guy who is making a buck from getting you on a plane ASAP. Forget about the recruiter as soon as you can. He/She isn't your friend, all they want is for you to stay so your new boss likes them as a recruiter. What YOU need to do once you have arrived with a valid E2 visa is make a positive relationship with your employer. The recruiter is nothing after this time.

You hear dumbass "XYZ recruiter is great" all the time followed up by a post from someone saying "No, no, XYZ recrutier sucks!" shortly after. All that has happened is that they hooked two different people up with two different schools. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes its the teacher's fault, sometimes it's the hagwan boss's fault. Don't blame the recruiter dumbasses. Blame (1) unscrupulous hagwan bosses or (2) unscrupulous teachers or (3) idiot teachers who sign a lame-ass contract then realise the grass is greener at the Wonderland across the road.

I've used them twice, and they were pretty competent. The young Korean woman, "Niki" and her boss, Thomas Kim, both accompanied me to my public high school interview (driving me an hour-and-a half from their own hogwan in Seoul...) and were very helpful... "Niki" also speaks English very well, having lived in the U.S. and/or Canada for a while...
