What is Sound Day? Is that the day when you buy a pass to enter all of the clubs?

Thats Club Day.

Sound Day is when you have unlimited access to all the participating live music bars.

Yeah its similar to Club Day except all the participating clubs have live bands playing rather than live DJs.

So, where can I find info on the upcoming Sound Day?

Just off the top of my head...

http://soundday.co.kr/

It's not exactly the best day to visit any of those clubs though.

There's going to be a major show at Skunk Hell that night, but they're not part of Sound Day.

It's the release of a new compilation CD. What bands have you heard then?

I've heard quite a bunch....cockrasher, shorty cat, rux. I can't remember names of most of the bands I've heard. Both shorty cat and rux stood out as bands that have some potential.

It seems that the bands either go for a poppy blink 182 sound or a generic old school (join the conformist punk army) style.

Consider this thread hijacked.

Actually, I agree. With the opening of Club Spot most of the pop crap has been kept further away. The generic old school sound you refer to is still played in most countries in the world, unchanged, and the bands doing it in Korea are above average. They're certainly better than you'd find in a show in the US. The only difference is they're Korean, so they get criticised for not having developed their own unique sound.

If you didn't notice, there is no conformist punk army in Korea, seeing as how there probably aren't more than 100 punks in the entire country. Getting tattoos or shaving your head is still rebellious in this country.

I'd say the top bands in the country these days are 13 Steps, the Geeks, Suck Stuff, and Captain Bootbois. Rux hasn't fully recovered after losing two guitarists.

And I agree with you as well. Some of the generic old school sound punk bands I've seen in Korea have done it quite well. I don't go to nearly enough shows and there are some bands playing next weekend that I haven't seen before so I think I'm gonna check out the show. We can go to the Family Mart across the street and I'll buy you a hite.

Skunk Hell kicks aaaasss! The major problem with Korean bands is the f-ing 5 minute speeches they give in between songs. "Please, we don't need the chatter. Just play the $^$%(^% music dammit!" How do you say shut-up in Korean?
