What's the max amount of cash you are allowed to carry out at airport / customs? Or else wire out? That is, without having to go through official reporting and filing of it and proving records on demand. What's their limit? Thanks.

There is no maximum. Where did you get that idea? The only thing is that if you carry 10,000 US or more, you have to declare it. As long as you do that, you could theoretically carry a few million if you want. But you better have a good reason to carry that much cash.

I have carried negotiables that were valued at more than US$10k into and out of Canada. It is a simple matter of filling in a form to make a statutary declaration and that was about it. No problems at all.

You can carry more than 10k into Canada. Go to the Canada Customs website and you will see there is no limit. You just have to declare it. As for wiring money out of Korea, the limit is set on your income. For massive amounts of money, you need to bring in some papers from work. Massive to me is 100k+ US in one transfer. So if you were making 30mil a year on your contract, but another 30mil in privates or illegal work, sending out more than 30mil for that year is going to be impossible (if the bank asks for the income paper that is).
