Yes. I have been given a book for middle schoolers that contains texts on fertility treatment, sexual attraction and drug use. Now I'm no prude but I really don't feel its my place to be tackling these topics with a bunch of 13 year old children - let the social science teachers deal with those issues. and let the English teachers research and provide some stimulating material for these poor kids to study!

These books are clearly for adults. Once I have spent hours and hours filtering out suitable or interesting topics, there really isn;t much of the book left. Luckily I get the chance to put a few of my own ideas in there - every so often I am told off for not sticking to the plan, but mostly I can do what I think is best for the kids.

Good luck

Mostly, I love my job, but what is the point of employing teachers with experience to do a job, people who really do care about education, only to ignore them 99 per cent of the time, be completely closed to input, and then making the only form of communication telling them off for putting books in the wrong place or asking for a pen on the wrong day?!

Oh! Bad day......
