This is a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. I really want to see a medical specialist (thoratic surgeon) about a surgery that I'm going to need in the near future. I'm probably off to thailand for it (no it's not *that* surgey), but would like a second opinon on it and some more hopefully reliable info from an unbiased source before going under the knife.

Anyone know how I would go about it. My first idea was to go through a good international doctor here, but I'm worried that I'm going to be trading off language abilty for medical knowledge. Any thoughts?

I was recently looking for a doctor and found a website for Seoul National University Hospital that said that you can contact them to make an appointment with a specialist and more importantly it stated that they would be english speaking.

I don't have the website handy but if you do a quick search you can probably find it. Or you could call SNUH and ask for more info.

Of course this is assuming that you are in Seoul or are at least willing to go there.

Depending on how helpful your country's embassy is, they might be able to provide you with lists of different specialists.

They would most likely state the disclaimer that it is not an indication of the quality of the doctor, but I got the name of a dental surgeon from an embassy - I can't remember but I think the US Embassy had some listed on their website, but that was several years ago when I first came.
