At work, I had 4 people on my team all leave suddenly at the same time. They did not give prior notice which I thought was quite odd until I was told today by a friend that giving notice prior to the end of the fiscal year (3/31) could negatively affect the amount of bonus we recieved. There was nothing in my contract about a bonus and I didnt even think about an additional bonus other than the one we received in Christmas.
I checked my bank account that my work deposits my money in today (it took me 2 weeks to realize...) and sure enough i have an additional 20,000,000 won extra in my account. The reason I didnt realize this is I live off of my credit cards which automatically withdraw the full balance from my work bank account monthly and I have a separate bank account ATM that I use for incidentals.
No one at work talked about this bonus until today, not even my friends will talk about the amounts they received... Is this fiscal year bonus a standard part of alot of peoples' compensation packages???
I guess I should feel pretty good about getting the money, but I am about to quit and go to a different house but am feeling extremely guilty keeping this money and feel like I have to stay... |

yep 20,000,000 won. There is no denying that is a fair chunk of change, but I think I am a little older and make a little more money than the average college grad english teacher (29 years old).
I am not a english teacher, I work as an equities trader, and my bonus for CHristmas was almost as much but I fully expected that bonus so it didnt come as a shock.
This bonus came out of the blue... and for all I know, others at my house could have brought in ALOT more.
I have only been working since October so getting too bonuses just feels very odd.
My question is does anyone else in a different field get a Xmas bonus and a fiscal year end bonus??? |

So what do you want from posting that information here?
Admiration? Envy? A sense of self-importance? |

I've never gotten one. It's always been just a year end bonus.

I've worked in a number of fields (including financial) and never received a fiscal year end bonus. When I worked for FedEx, we got a bonus after the UPS strike. But that was a one-off.
So do they hire waegooks? Seriously though, I do have 5 years of experience in the futures market. So do they hire waegooks? |

This belongs on Job-related Forum. Get some of the resident experts to fisk your contract, as you're clearly getting shafted there. 20 mil.? Highway robbery. |

Quite so & no apologies necessary. Just know that business perks are at a far fancy remove from what us working the trenches get. (Not that we're starving.) Otherwise, join the fray! |
