Do you wear earplugs to help you sleep at night?

Absolutely! I live below this family that gets up at 7 am to chop Kimchi or something. My building is so poorly made that I can hear them take a piss - which wakes me up every time I forget to wear earplugs.

No, I don't. Do you? Why do you need them? What noise are you looking to block out?

A while ago I was thinking about posting on a related topic.

A few years back I got into the habit of leaving the music on in my bedroom as I went to sleep. I'd set the timer to turn off an hour later, by which time I'd be fast asleep. It actually got to be more than just a habit, as I began to really, really want ("need") that background music, or even the radio, to get to sleep some nights. That's fine if I'm sleeping alone, and my girlfriend at the time also didn't mind it. But later, different girl, and she couldn't fall asleep until it was deadly silent. What to do? Earplugs for her? Razz No. Earphones for me? Well, I had a pair that constantly fell out, were uncomfortable, and I'd accidently pull the plug out when I turned in my near-sleep. I've tried sleeping without it any music/talk, but it's not really working. I'll lie awake for over an hour thinking about tomorrow, my schedule, my work, etc., desperately trying to fall asleep and fully aware that I'm trying to fall asleep. A few times I crept out of bed and slept in a guest bedroom, with my little radio lulling me to sleep! Smile..... But Sad.

Eh? Did somebody say something?

This reminds me of the couple who had 38 children. The father explained in a media interview that it could all be traced to his wife's hearing disability: "Every night, I'd ask her, 'So, you going to go to sleep or what?' And she'd just say, 'What?'"

I can't stand having anything on my face/head while sleeping...or while awake, for that matter!

For sure...I used to sleep with a fan on, and some music, but other noises managed to creep in....got them at the pharmacy...cheap and effective.

So anyway, has anyone here besides me ever slept with earPHONES on? Huh?? Huh???

You people having trouble sleeping because of all the racket from your neighbours' bodily functions -- Why not try playing some soft music? Not so loud it keeps you awake. Just loud enough to drown out or muffle the, um, the flushing toilets, the chopping knives, the wee-wee tinkles, the belches, the expectorating, the farts, the grunts, the singing, etc. Why not? My complaint are the chirpy birds these mornings. Chirp chirp chirp chirp!!! Every morning the same old song.

I tried earphones with my mp3 before but it just felt way too uncomfortable. Those were earbud style however.

I buy earplugs at the ߱, I didn't know the name so I asked the pharmacist in Korean and he told me they're called "earuh suponge-uh" ......

I don't need them at night but I am seriously considering them for the halls of my middle school.

I don't want it engraved on my tombstone that..

He bled out his ears for 40 days and 40 nights before uttering his final words, "Why the fck can't they just say hello?" and shaking off his mortal coil.

I often wear them (about 4-5 times a week). They cut out about 50 - 70% of the noise, enough to make me forget about it and get some sleep. Sad that they're needed, but I blame the construction of the buildings. Lousy. It doesn't help that Koreans like to talk loudly as they walk by my door.

When I was really young, I had respiratory problems, and my parents had to keep an old school humidifier in my bedroom. Essentially, my formative years were spent falling asleep to white noise.

Throughout my life, I've always fallen asleep faster and slept more soundly when there is some sort of soft background noise.

A fan is okay, but I bought a "sound spa" a few years ago. It creates sounds like ocean waves, thunderstorms, waterfalls, etc.

However, I think I've become completely addicted to it.

You can apply for MONEY if the construction noises around you are too loud. Seriously.

Anyways, in only wear ear plugs when while on the bus some crude Korean "PIG" sitting near me
is making loud chomping sounds Confused

I've heard that if you turn a radio all the way to the end (ie not tuned into a station) it effectively becomes a white noise generator.
