Ok, glad i got your attention. Im sure it worked nicely! But im sorry to say that Metallica are unable to come here. Which is my point of this post. Why is it that all major bands, do the asian circuit and completly by-pass korea? Tokyo, Bangkok, Manila, Osaka etc..............
Here are my thoughts: Please reply with yours!
1. A hard core rock group would prob not find 10,000 screaming fans clapping huge red balloons together motivation to rock hard?.......
2. Koreans would hear their orignal music..........slam it as a copy of a popular korean group who had only one year early, used the sounds, replaced the lyrics with a few hungal words........of the song which the western band had put out two years before!!!
3. it just suxs here period............
Also........u notice these "western bars" around town, how many "Asian bars" are there back home with canadians wearing hongboks in them?............... |

Man...you are so right. You really hit the nail on the head with this post.
I can't believe the insight you have into Korea. Are you writing a book!? If so, put me down for an autographed copy. You really should consider becoming some kind of cultural ambassador to Korea for all foreigners here to help them see the truth about this place.
The people, the culture, the food...you really have it sussed.
Keep on rockin' man. You are so excellent.
I can't wait for your next post. Keep it deep!! |

Supply and demand. Market researchers determine that Koreans won't pay to see major live acts, so the bands don't come. It's that simple. |

according to Metallica's website, they will be here on August 15th. I am sure they won't have a problem selling tickets either. |

They also don't seem very interested in western culture. Most Hollywood movies get screened here for about a week. That's it!
I am not very fond of their musical taste anyway. That Samul nori with the drum banging, well, when they hit that copper disc, it sounds like they're hitting a cheap frypan. It sounds horrible. There's nothing soothing or aesthetically pleasing about that sound unless it brings back the sweet memory of the time when your mother was calling you in the house for dinner. |

They were here in '98. The place was packed, and it was the best concert I'd ever been to. The audience was great, no lighters going or anything like that, just a bunch of people worshipping a group of incredible musicians.
See you there. |

I saw Metallica in Canada two years ago. The show was fantasitc. Lots of fire, explosions, and other special effects. It was a "concert in the round", meaning the stage was in the middle of the arena. I was fortunate enough to score floor tickets and found a great spot to stand. I would definately see them again. I wonder when tickets go on sale? I want to be on the floor again. |

Concert is scheduled for a Tuesday? That really sucks if they do come. Wonder how many english teachers will be sick that day? Hopfully my summer schedule will give me nights free by then. Keep us posted on any news of metallica and how to buy tickets. |

According to my calendar, the day is a holiday. If you check out the web-site posted above, it appears that it's an all-day affair. However, the info to tickets in Korea is not available yet - go figure! The only place on the tour where you can't find out any information.
Price? Bands? Are they coming?
Peace. |

I saw Metallica in 1996 at Earls Court in London. That was the 'Poor Touring Me' tour after the Load album, using a figure of eight stage. One drums kit in each hole of the eight for Lars to swap over halfway through. Hetfield on a stool crooning nothing alse matters - i could almost touch him! Metallica live really take some beating, they put on maximum effort everytime. And of course, they have some serious tunes! |

August 15th is "Japan lost the war, hooray" day so there's definitely no school.
I actually saw a poster for them yesterday and then noticed this thread a few hours later. Thought the op was reporting on the concert but it just turned out he had a spat of bad luck with this attempt at Korea-bashing. |

I didn't know it was a holiday. Since that is the case I am assuming tickets will be flying out the door as soon as they go on sale. Damn, I need to find out how to purchase them ASAP. |
