I was in Starbucks today working on something on the computer and there were two women next to me that were quite nice and they were working on some TOEFL work or something similar. One was pregnant, though that doesn't apply to the story. A few hours later a guy came in who I think was her husband, and he started going over the work with them as his English was better, and it sounded quite good from the pronunciation. One thing they were asking him about some things like whether you can say "by the time you get back we will be" in a sentence. After a few minutes of that it was time for them to go and since I had talked with them a bit I showed them a Google search with the above sentence and how it can be used, and one of them said to the guy ֱ ~ (what's wrong with you - jokingly though) and the guy chuckled and said "sorry" to them, and then I realized he must have told them it was wrong to use that in a sentence. But it also probably looked like I just butted in to tell him he was wrong and I suddenly felt like an ass. Then the guy went outside first and I asked them whether that's what he said (that you can't use it in a sentence) and they said yeah don't worry about it but I still felt mean. Sorry Korean guy. |
