I am ready and willing to come to Korea to teach but I have an ongoing medical issue that I have to make sure will be taken care of. My last gyn exam came back with an abnormal result so I have to be checked on a regular basis, about every 3 months. I've had one colposcopy but so far I haven't had any other treatment. The problem could go away on it's own or I may need future treatments such as laser surgery. According to my doctor, I'm not really in any danger of developing cancer but I have to keep getting checked so if anything gets worse it can be immediately taken care of. Long story short, I'm not in danger of dying but I can't ignore the problem either. Not to get to personal, but is anyone else dealing with the same issue or dealt with it in the past? What is the status of gyn care in Seoul and will I have access to the same level of treatment I get here in the States? I don't want to put my life on hold for this so I need to get all the information I can. Thanks.

As mentioned in the other threads on this subject, Dr Sung in Itaewon is an excellent ob/gyn.

The treatment she offers is, IMO, superior to anything that I would receive at home due mainly to the speed at which procedures can be done. (ie/ lab test results that take 4-6 weeks to come back in Ontario come back in 5 days with Dr Sung).

When I went home to my own country for a visit, she gave me my file in case I didn't return to Korea. I went to my home obgyn even he was impressed with the quality of care that the file showed, which made me feel relieved about her even more.

Any more details or questions PM me.

I recommend Dr Sung too. She is very, very good. Her facilities are first class and you don't have to wait for an appointment.

Yup I recommend Dr Sung. I had a LEEP done by her and her surgery is very clean and made me feel as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. No waiting for an appointment with her for weeks on end either.

Some stuff is covered by koeran medical insurnace, but the stuff that isn't can get a bit pricey, but far superior to what else is on offer.

I just went to a Miz Medi hospital (I've heard there are several locations around Seoul). The facilites were modern and clean (and beautiful- very tranquil!), the doctor I visited (internal medicine) spoke English (and was female- I have a preference for female doctors Embarassed ), and they were very organized. I like Doctor Sung, too, but I'm changing to Miz Medi. Cheaper, and it's right down the street from my apt.
