What the heck is a settlement fee? Is that the same Severance Pay? I am just a bit lost here. BB |

If the amt of the "settlement fee" is 300,000won or so, it's probably to help cover a bit of your moving expenses and might help you buy some necessities for your new place or what not. Perhaps they should've called it a "settlement allowance"? It wouldn't hurt to double-check on it by asking whoever you're in contact with. The public school will give you this when you arrive. Much different than severance pay...you receive severance when your contract is finished...equal to one full-month's salary. |

I got a settlement fee of 300,000 won when I started my Public school job. As the previous poster said, it is just to help you settle in. Buy anything you need really.
