Hello Dieters,
I put on too much weight over Christmas in America and can't seem to take it off. I did well about 5 years ago using Slimfast drinks as a meal replacement. Does anyone know where to find slimfast or any kind of powdered drink meal replacement? I found slimfast at the Hanam market, but now they are sold out, with no idea on next shipment. It seems like there should be a local powdered version; Thailand had a nice local version called hydroslim.
I do know about 'smaller portions', exercise, etc. I agree 100% with this and I also have good success with Slimfast sometimes.
Thanks,
Drew

One thing I learned a long time ago is they usually don't help in the long run, but for the short run maybe. Unless you plan on drinking them for the rest of your life, it is better to just create a habit of eating normal healthy food that will stay with you for life Smile

Yeah, I second that. My sister used to use them and although she got slim she didn't stay that way and has been in a dieting cycle ever since.
I'd stick with the healthy eating and exercise a bit longer.

Drew was asking where to get a nutritional product, not for nutrional advice.

I don't know where you could get Slimfast in particular, but there are loads and loads of nutritional supplements at http://www.bodybuilding.com (they might have it there- I don't know, but it's worth looking).

Their prices are good, even after the expense of having things shipped halfway around the world. [/url]

If we had attacked the OP, then fine. You could have just offered the information you had without this line. But friendly advice, atleast in my opinion, is always valid, and usually appreciated.

If your sister asked you for one of those fat pills, even if you did point her in the right direction wouldn't you atleast let her know they are barely tested and tend to cause a lot of harm. Obviously the slimfasts aren't that bad, but just trying to help Smile

Koreans drink this 5-grain powder stuff. I'm not sure what it's called, but they all seem to think it's healthy. However, I don't think it comes in any flavors other than nasty.

I've seen Slimfast bars and drinks at the Red Door in Itaewon from time to time.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure about that 5-grain stuff. I'll check into it, but too bad it only comes in nasty. I'll look for the red door in Itaewon too. It is alwasy surprising to learn what things just don't exist in Korea.

To be honest, I don't know what it tastes like. The Koreans do seem to enjoy it, but take that with a large block of salt, they seem to enjoy a lot of things I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Anyway, that stuff probably tastes like oatmeal or something similar.

Drew, I do not know where you can get slimfast, but I do know how to make a drink that is lots better. (and I think more filling)

Non fat milk (you can get it many places, or low fat milk you can get it )
a banana and/or a handfull of strawberries, some ice, and a blender.

Or, Orange juice, banana and/or strawberries, ice and a blender.

Carrots, cut in cubes, and/or apple/banana/strawberries....you get the picture.

Slimfast in my opinion taste awful, and if it is a filling malted you want, you just take fruit, juice, or low fat/skim milk, and blend it up with ice.

In addition to teachingld2004's good advice, you might want to try the following. I speak from experience, I lost over 20 lbs. (of course along with a healthy workout regimen). In Hyundai dept. store grocery store or in most E-marts, you can get a ground up grains. I bought the pre-ground, pre-packaged one which included ground wheat, green tea, barley, dried bananas, brown rice grains, etc. You just mix it up with some low fat or non-fat milk, add some honey, and some egg whites if you want to boost your protein. It's filling and a lot healthier than Slimfast. And it tastes pretty good. You can make your own by having them grind up different fibers and seeds and fibers. I suggest that over Slimfast since it's lot healthier in the long run.

In addition to those shakes, you can also pick up bananas and strawberries on sale at E-mart, which you can freeze and make delicious shakes. I just put in some frozen strawberries, bananas, low fat yogurt, and honey in a mixer and it makes for a filling and healthy shake.

I'm currently working with Herbalife and it works well when I stick to the program. I see it as a step towards building a more healthy diet since I have a lot of weight to take off and I don't want to drink Herbalife shakes for the rest of my life.

Anyway, if you're interested, check out their website & let me know. I can find you a distributor.
