My problem here is what is America going to do with Canada? How will it divide up Canada? Is the second largest country in the world going to be folded into America as just one state? That's crazy. Will it make each province a state? 60 stars on the flag? Will Texas be pleased it will seem like a piddly little state compared to the Great Steak... err the Great State of Alberta? Quebec will out Cajun Louisiana for sure.

Why the US will invade Canada? The bright minds working for the Pentagon and Dept. of der Heimatland Security must have found new strategic uses for moose droppigns - those "golden nuggets" that can be found in huge quantities from the Canadian forests.

Canadian Attack on Schenectady!

At dawn this morning Simon Schermerhorn, of Schenectady arrived here with horrifying news. Mr. Schermerhorn reported that at about 11PM last night, in a raging snow storm, 210 Canadians attacked the town of Schenectady. He escaped on horseback to bring news of the attack. Early reports are that Lt. Talmadge of the Connecticut militia and 8 or 9 of his men have been killed or captured. Other known fatalities include Adam Vrooman��s wife, shot, and their child—brained on a doorpost; the Reverend Tassemaker was hacked to pieces; 60 people are known dead (38 men and boys; 10 women and 12 children). Between 80 and 90 have been taken hostage and are believed to be headed back to Montreal. Two of the attackers are known to have been killed and one wounded.
Reports are that there are two other groups of terrorists loose in New England, believed to be headed for New Hampshire and Maine.

Back in the 80's while i was in high school in Canada, Canada and the USA signed a free trade agreement and i thought wow I think that is the beginning of the end for Canada.

I knew that it was a bad move for Canadians then and still think so today however Mulroney insisted and it was a done deal.

Thankfully Canada remains a country and not a bunch of states.

����the blood spilled in this raid and in the two other blows by Frontenac (Salmon Falls, New Hampshire and Portland, Maine) did more than anything else to show the Colonies the need for union—for common protection. On the first of May 1690 there assembled at New York City a congress to concert measures of attack upon Canada—the first of a series which later ended in the great Continental Congress.

The conflict was now on in earnest, for the Colonists could not allow such cruel deeds to go unavenged. Massachusetts, Plymouth, Connecticut, New York and even as far south as Maryland, resolved upon an invasion of Canada. Each agreed to furnish its quota of troops��The troops were placed under the command of Major General Fitz John Winthrop of Connecticut. On July 30, 1690 they left Albany and proceeded up the Hudson River towards Canada. But the little army of 515 got no nearer Canada than Whitehall because of the lack of sufficient canoes and provision, and the breaking out of smallpox among the troops, and dissension among the subordinates in command. Johannes Schuyler��was clearly dissatisfied that the expedition should be disbanded without without an attempt to strike a blow��He therefore resolved not to return to Albany without an effort to bring back something to show for all the trouble. He applied to Winthrop for permission to go forward. It was cheerfully granted and immediately forty whites and one hundred Indians volunteered to accompany him. Loading the canoes with sufficient equipment they started north. They surprised La Prairie south of Montreal, killed a number of the inhabitants, took many prisoners, did a great deal of damage and returned with but little loss to themselves. This was the first English armed force that ever penetrated Canada from the Colonies.��
