No, you didn't, Jinju, but you did refer to the OP with the wrong personal pronoun. And willfully so. You know, one thing that I've noticed about your posts... the longer you blow, the lower you go. Reading comprehension, inattention, blahblahblah...Show some consistency, my brutha...

You have besmirched the honor of the fair OP, YOU FEUL (in my best Peter Seller's french accent) Take that, you quasi-asiatic swine! (slaps face with glove) Do you not realize that the existence of the gender of the personal pronoun is practically all that separates the barbarian hordes from the gates of christendom?

En garde!

As for the being thrust into such an environment. That is what a brain is for. I am sorry, I have no pity for something that could have been checked quite easily. While I am sure the company withholds that info on purpose to be sketchy, but it's still up to him.

It is unreasinable to expect someone who has never been to Korea before to miraculously know that Koreans have a completely different way of determining age, and that therefore they must have an in-depth discussion with a potential employer about the ages of the students they will be teaching. It's not something you see discussed in many places.

If (as it is in my case) the vast majority of the Korean staff have lived and studied in the West, I think it should be safe to assume that when a 'foreigner' asks about the age of the students they will be teaching, they will get an answer they understand.

It's like calling a Korean arrogant because they didn't know what day Thanksgiving fell on, or what age an American child is when they start high school.

And, yet again, people who have been here for a while are getting up on their pedestals and generalising about how ignorant and stupid all newbies are. Is THAT not arrogant?! You were new once too. And I'm sure you didn't come here knowing every little detail and quirk of Korean society.

I can't stand the 'kindergarten' classes. It is daycare and nothing more, and the only thing I am thankful for is that I get it out of the way at the beginning of my day. I'm not a baby person, and I know that at the end of my contract, this is the thing I willl be most excited to get away from.

I disagree with this, but it's a personal thing, and I few years ago I felt just the way you do. What I do find, though is that the absolute beginner classes offer a chance to sea real progress beiong made very quickly, both because kids that age are natural spnges for learning, and also because they are at the school for about 5 hours a day every day.

Some kids are too young, though. That's what I think.
