There's a free HWP viewer here:

open office might be able to do that, though I make no guarantees.

ask the school to send you the file as an .rtf or .doc as HWP can save files in either of those extensions.

I didn't have any luck opening .hwp under Open Office. My school gave me a copy of HWP when I asked them.

Let me know [PM please] if you can't find it (it's pretty cheap to buy in Yongsan if you feel like spending a few won).

The free HWP viewer doesn't seem to like my Mac. Boo. Anyone have another alternative? Aside from asking my boss to use a different format (which I've already done)?

Ha, ha, ha. There was supposed to be something available for Mac last year, I haven't checked in a few months, but I never saw it.

Ask them to save it in .rtf. I have heard HWP can save in .doc and .pdf, but the version in my office doesn't.

HWP is not a universal format and I don't understand why Koreans think it is. It's easy to type in Word in Korean these days. I can even spellcheck in Korean! Do other countries have local word-processing formats that are inaccessible to the rest of the world?
