Ok, so I've heard many bad things I hear about recruiters but then I've also heard so many good things. What the heck is the final word on them?
My top 4 choices for recruiting agencies (in order of interest):
- Footprints
- Canada Connections
- Duff Recruiting
- Park English

what are your stories/opinions on these? I know, a lot of you will say "Don't take recruiters... they're ****ers" but honestly, for a newb such as myself, they are a huge help in finding a job. Especially considering my lack of prior experience with SK/ESL. As such, I'm just as likely, if not more, to get screwed by a school via a non-recruiter than an actual one. And no, the 'fly to SK and find a job' route isn't an option for me because I need that flight reimbursement (cash is tight post-grad). So... what do you guys think? I'd prefer to work in a public school but those seem to go to recruiters/experienced teachers... so am I stuck?
Thanks!

When I was in Ulsan, I used Footprints for 5 of my teaching staff and found them to be professional in their approach and the quality of people supplied was excellent. Smile

Grotto is certainly qualified to work here, and he has found jobs here in the past.

The reason a lot of people don't like dealing with recruiters isn't that they can't get jobs for people, it's that they lie to get people to take subpar jobs.

There is nothing wrong with using recruiters as a source of job leads, but the danger lies in trusting them. Anything they tell you, verify it with the school and current/previous foreign teachers before you sign on that dotted line.

I have had the misfortune of dealing with 3 different recruiters over three years. I successfully finished each and every contract I signed even after much difficulty.

I have been lied to by all three recruiters, left without support once they got their money and recieved absolutely no support in any way shape or form.

Are there decent recruiters out there? I cant say....all the ones I have dealt with are scum sucking bottom feeders Laughing

Just be patience while doing your job search. Fraud Recruiter always ask for a fee because they are taking adventure on your desperation to get a job. So beware and be carefully.

I have to say, this post made me chuckle when I first read it. The mistakes in it made me wonder if a Korean recruiter posted it.

Then I followed the link and it made me laugh harder. Someone posting about recruiters charging a fee to take advantage of you has a link to a resume/job site that...charges a fee.
