There are 3 food stores in the Volvo building:

Hannam Supermarket is the largest -and it's really not that large. It really doesn't carry much stuff that you can't buy somewhere else. And, you'll pay a lot for most things since it's near the UN Village where people have money to burn. They sell a lot of Kirkland (Costco brand) stuff often for a 100% mark-up.

In the basement lobby there is a fairly complete deli with all kinds of meats and salads. I've bought the odd thing there over the years, but it is extremely expensive.

Also in the lobby is a small shop called Dandy's Grocery. They are the main reason to visit this place. They tend to have the really unique stuff like Advil, Pop-tarts, frozen sausages, TV dinners, Lipton noodle packs, etc, etc,

Haddon House is another place nearby. Also pretty expensive but a pretty good selection of Western goods. It's probably better than Hannam Market but doesn't quite have all the particular stuff that Dandys Grocery has. Also, it's hard to find the first time. It's in the basement of a dumpy old building at the top of the UN Village hill.

After more than four years in Korea, my opinion is that Costco is the best overall for our fussy foreign needs. It's worth joining just for their pizzas and hot dogs at the snack bar!

Last time I heard, HomePlus and LotteMart were bidding to take over Carrefour. Whether the name will stay the same or not, that's another story.
