As I'm sure you're WELL aware, we all have a 3 day weekend coming up in May for Buddah's BD/Children's Day. I was wondering if any of you have ideas on where to go to get out of the city, which is easily accessible by public transportation, maybe on the ocean? I'd love to stay in a pension with some friends but have hit a roadblock in researching places.
Any suggestions? |

How far are you willing to travel? I'd suggest going to the East coast, around Donghae, but I've heard the beaches are off limits when it's not swimming season in that area. |

actually there are quite a few long weekends and holidays in May- depends on where you work - I guess
for some schools the 1st May is a holiday - therefore the first long weekend (can't remember the reason behind it)...
then the 5th May - long weekend
then for Public school teachers the 15th May (long weekend for teachers day)
then the 31st May (wednesday) is holiday for voting
(although I am aware many Hagwons ignore these days and force their teachers to work).... |

It's looking like I have more time off than on during May. The entire week off during mid-terms next week, the 3 day weekend for teacher's day, election day, and one week where half of my classes are at the English Village. |

I, also, have a lot of time off. I have May 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, and the 15th off. That equals, two 3-day weekends and one 5-day weekend. I am loving it. |

I know what I am doing. Seeing as I have 5 days off, I am heading to Hong Kong. I got a great deal, and great flight times (leaving early Thursday morning and returning late Monday night.) |

Ok, I guess I wasn't specific enough. I live in Seoul, and I am willing to travel a few hours away. I was hoping to take a train rather than bus so we don't hit traffic...
any suggestions about somewhere maybe in the mountains or coast? I've been to Busan. I'm thinking somewhere rural but still has good transportation and some things to do (nature but also restaurants/bars).
Thanks again for your help. |
