During his travels in Korea, Jesus went down to Cheju Island to spread peace and love among the local fishermen. He soon chanced upon three hearty old salts near the shore and called out, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men!" The three fishermen were puzzled by such curious advice, and answered back, "Hey, you strange-looking foreign barbarian, can we used your big nose for a hook?" Unpreturbed, Jesus replied benevolently, "Give a man a fish, and he will eat for one day; teach him how to fish, and he will eat for the rest of his life." Outraged by the suggestion that they didn't know their own job, the three fishermen threw down their nets in a huff, dove into the water and chased Jesus into the forest, where he barely managed to escape with his life, Cheju has always been that kind of place.

This silly story insulting Christianity is ofensive to my religion. please remove it, or insert a different excerpt.
I don't see why christianity is regarded as open to all ridicule, yet Islam or any other faith is regarded as beyond criticism. |
I'd thought I'd quote it one more time. Just to make sure it stays up.
ps: What's so offensive about it? Seems to me that the only offense here is for Koreans from Cheju. |

There is a difference between free speech and being rude. Going onto a Christian website and posting that would be going too far. Or saying, "Hey Rapier, read this." would also be going too far. As much as Rapier would like to personally be in our bedrooms making sure we are praying to his god, I didn't see a problem with the story from a free speech point of view. Cedar didn't post it as an attack either way. |

I don't see why this story is insulting or offensive.
If you insist on exporting the Jesus story to other countries, you have to be prepared for the possibility that it will be altered.
I suppose that you're one of those people who wants to ban "The DaVinci Code."
I quoted the story just to show that I am against the censorship of ideas, including (and especially) religious ideas. |

Why are you so offended. Making fun of Christianity is like making fun of Mickey Mouse to me. Jesus may or may not have been fictional but my belief is that the whole god, bible, christianalty thing is hilarious. Church and deep religous convictions are a psychological crutch for the weak or damaged individuals. Why can't you ignore it as I ignore your churches? If people can scream god is great why can't I scream "Wake up fools!"?? You can have your strong beliefs but others can't have thiers?? I'm confused by your reaction. It BETTER be removed?? Come to my doorstep and I'll tell you to FO, in no uncertain terms. Basis of our freedoms?? That is too funny to even comment on. Did you go to scewl? It seems some of the other posters respect your self rightous BS and are afraid to offend, not this individual.
I believe:
1. There is no god.
2. Christians are weak on Darwin's level.
3. It's one heck of a business.
4. For lack of a better term, you are all freaks.
So, only you are right and only YOU can express your beliefs??? F that.
PS. Soju makes me angry sometimes. No apologies.... |

Couldn't agree more, though not all Christians try to sell you their beliefs like their lives depended on it.
Christianity seems attractive to those with low intelligence. |

By your own logic, you must be a Christian then. Try doing some research before posting such a comment...it will make you look less ignorant. |

How did you deduce from my comment that I'm a Christian? I guess it's YOU that has the low intelligence since you seem to be a Christianity defender.
That said, Christanity seems prevalent in countries where people are poor (i.e. Latin American countries, Philippines, etc) and don't get much education. Then you have the Bible thumpers in the United States who might have gone to college yet throw any rational thought out the door.

Oh for cryin' out loud! Does every thread on this board have to turn into a religion argument?

Well, when you go to a simple pojangmacha and the lady behind the grill drives you away after asking "Do you know Jesus," I'd say Christianity EASILY leaves itself open to criticism.
Someone said it best: Christianity is like dumpling production in Korea (few years back, producers got busted for putting weird junk in the dumplings) -- the less you know about it, the more likely you are to consume it. |

Um... completely misses the point. Criticize away, if that's your thing. I just think it's rediculous how many non-religious threads have been hijacked like this lately. It's getting annoying. |
