Hmm, that's interesting. On my desk calendar May 1st is not a red day, so I am not sure if I have it off or not.
Also midterms start that week.
Who knows. If I do it'll be a nice surprise

That`s my birthday!
So I hope not.
And since I never have to work Fridays at my new job, a 4-day weekend would be nice.
But if I have to, no biggie. |

The whole red day on the calendar is what sparked this whole discussion. My dairy from one of the companies I out source to, shows Monday as a red day. A calendar we have at the school doesn't show Monday as a red day. Currently we are debating which calendars are correct and which are not. |

| From what I understand, gov't offices, public schools, and banks are observing labour days. Hagwons will not have labour day off. |
Yeah. Throw in companies, too. |

No work May 1,2,3,4,5,15,31. Half classes May 8,9,10,11,12.
The only problem is that I have no idea how I will get the material covered that I need to cover for my grade 2's. |
I have to get to work today to verify the final tally...but I think I can beat this:
I know I only have 12 official teaching days, they are giving me two more days off and I have most of my classes cancelled this week so the kids can test-prep. Can I count those too? Can I? Huh? |

OK. Now at "work", I am able to present my schedule for the month I will refer to as Greater May--sort of a subcontinent of lunar cycles...
April 24, 25, 26, 27, 28--total classes to be taught: 8 out of a normal 20 class week. Test prep.
May 1,2,3,4,5. Flat off. 1st and 5th are holidays and 2,3,4 are tests.
May 12. Off. School picnic.
May 15. Off. Teachers Day. (Which kind of pisses me off really. At the private school I worked at, we came in for half a day got serenaded and laden with gifts by the students than all went out for a fancy-schmancy lunch. Wait, did somebody say 4 day weekend? Sod Teachers Day!)
May 22-23. Off. Not really sure why as of yet... Please note, this makes for another 4-day weekend.
May 31 off. Election Day, I believe.
June 2, 5. Off. These two may not count in the pure competitive sense as I requested them off in order to show my visiting friend around the peninsula, but in the "Jesus Christ we get a lot of freakin time off sense", I appeal they be allowed.
June 6. Off. --whatever the heck that is--can't remember right now. Too giddy after counting up all these holidays.
I have also been informed to expect one medical check-up day and two more days where classes "should" be cancelled: sit on arse until after lunch days. However, things being what they are, there might be some confusion and these two refer to May 22, 23. Who the hell knows?
For the second time this week I ask: Who was it that was wondering if hagweon jobs are the best in Korea? |
