I think there's at least one name on that list that more than a few Dave's posters will be familiar with. |

Who gives a s**t if recruiters do it. They have about the same power to stop you from working as a good fart. You would need to engage in some serious criminal activities to get blacklisted. |

well, here's the whole story since i didn't have time before:
my hagwon hired an american teacher (hey, i'm an american, too) at the end of march. he has been nothing but trouble. he has repeatedly lost his temper: in front of the children, at the owner, at other teachers both foreign and korean. he does not care about teaching - he does not check anyone's homework and his corrections of any written material are shoddy at best. he has an MA in education so he also feels superior to everyone here. he has cursed at us. he has terminated his contract and will be leaving at the end of may. it will be an awkward few weeks....
i know i shouldn't make it my mission to make sure he doesn't work in korea. after all, no crime has been committed. but after 10 months with this hagwon (and it does have it's problems) i have grown to really like it here - my coworkers, the kids, etc.
the point is i don't want this guy teaching other kids and basically ruining the rep of foreign teachers overseas.
/sighs because he thinks there's really nothing he can do. |

Oh cheer up sparky. See what you need is out of the box thinking. Meaning get out of the shoe box that passes for your apartment and go get stupid drunk. At some point your drunk mind will regurgitate some sort of plan of action, and bingo is your nameo.
My suggestion is to formulate a plan to slowly drive the fool insane. Start by getting a copy of the key to his apartment and when he is rearrange everything.
Also do your best to convince him that next friday is not a holiday.
If he is not getting the point find out his email account and send him fake messages from a "girl" he met last weekend who is really "hot" and set up a "meat" and greet at some subway station miles away.
While he is gone empty out everything he owns from his apartment pack it all up in bags, and leave it in the hallway with a note saying:
Dear Cheese dick.
Move back to america or you will be killed.
Signed..
The hackwon avenger. |

Without the full story (just your point of view) who can say? I'd say, though, without any crime having taken place you're out of your jurisdiction messing around with the guy's life and prospects. You're asking for support and the ra-ra to get up the nerve to be a self-righteous, not minding your own business, goody-two-shoes. I'd say do it yourself and if the guy comes looking for you afterwards beg for mercy saying, 'those on Dave's supported finking on you'.
Some of these hagwons get to be such politically correct, tight little places with the foreigners finking on each other and the Korean bosses just lovin' that tendency towards back-stabbing self-regulation among the ARC holders. Makes their job of whitey wrangling so much easier if they have a few deputies.
You've described a guy under stress. Big deal. Maybe he needs a vacation. From you. From that hagwon. From the kids, everything. It could be you stressing out down the road. Would you want some busybody prancing around getting on your nerves and messing with your future then? He's gone from your tight little space so let him go. Hagwon can equal sweatshop and always someone has got to be the head ironer. |

So maybe he'll move on to an adult haggie or a university.
What's your point?
By the sound of things, I doubt very much that he wants to teach kids anymore either. But it's really hard to know based on what you have written. |

If he is that bad, his rep will follow him to some extent. He will be stuck in low -end jobs as high end jobs require references for past jobs...
He might also move on to a teaching level more in tune with his abilities (perhaps he simply cannot handle kids) or simply move back home.
Either way, it is none of your concern after he leaves. If someone ever asks you for a recommendation for him (unlikely but hey) then be honest in your assessment. |

You are a pisspot. You don't care about the reputation of foreigners here, so don't come on here with you bs and pass yourself off as the beacon of decency. You are a lackey. As another poster quite rightly pointed out, you are making the boss's life so much easier by playing the "I am the best whiteman since sliced bread" card. Guys like you make me cringe. You are a real sell out. Get on with your life, and stop trying to screw another guy's life up simply because he gets stressed out in a hoggie which you have already conceded "has it's problems." Tool. |

G-boy...I understand your response but come on now...a sell out?
To whom and in opposition to what?
Shoukd we back up other foreign teachers no matter what on the simple basis that they are fellow westerners??? |

Sell out is weak crap.
Beekeep is in no way responsible by racial orientation for covering for his fellow teacher. If some idiot can't figure out how to be respectful enough to play whitey the clown for a few hours a day then to hell with him.
It ain't about teaching level. Its about respect. You don't cuss your boss, or your fellow coworkers, or the kids. If you can't show any basic level of respect/customer service skills to your coworkers or boss then you ought to get into another line of work like mucking out privvies at the South Pole. |
