The Star Wars live-action TV series is a science fiction television series currently set to debut in 2008, which will be set in the Expanded Universe of the fictional Star Wars galaxy. The project, which has yet to be given an official title, was first announced in April 2005 by Star Wars creator George Lucas at the "Celebration III" fan convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
According to official reports, the series will be set during the 19-year timespan between the films Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It will focus primarily on minor characters of the Star Wars galaxy, rather than the main ones seen prominently in the films. However, Lucas has stated that some of the main characters may make cameo appearances.

In Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine, the leader of the Galactic Republic, declared himself Emperor, and transformed the Republic into the Galactic Empire. In the process, he ordered the execution of Order 66, in which all members of the clone army of the Republic turned on their Jedi leaders and killed them. In a speech he delivered to the senate, however, he reported that there were remaining Jedi, and that these survivors would be "hunted down and defeated."
Referred to as "the dark times" by Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope, nineteen years will pass in this series, which is set between the years of 19 BBY and 0 BBY. It is during this period that the newly formed Galactic Empire will rise to ultimate power throughout the galaxy. It is during this time period that the first Death Star will be constructed, albeit with many problems along the way.
However, most of the stories will be told from the perspective of minor characters from the Star Wars galaxy. From Star Wars creator George Lucas' own words, we may see the mysterious bounty hunter Boba Fett play a significant role in the series, with Daniel Logan reprising his role from Attack of the Clones. According to Lucas, several of the major characters from the films may have small appearances as well. Regardless, the issues involved in this particular era in the Star Wars history, it is said, will be quite clear, though the actual people involved may not necessarily be seen.
Over the course of the show, the Rebel Alliance, founded by Senator Mon Mothma and Senator Bail Organa in Revenge of the Sith, will gradually form into a full resistance against an Empire that holds the entire galaxy under its grip. The alliance, armed with its loyalist intentions to restore the Old Republic, will ultimately win its first battle against the Empire, setting up the events for A New Hope.

For geeks like me, this could actually be cool.
But I would honestly rather see a time period that hasn't been touched on before, like the beginning of the Jedi and all that. Kind of what Enterprise was to Star Trek. But cool enough to last.
I like that they say it's going to be dark: *beep* a whole of Jar-Jar Bings. |

It worries me. The mistake they made with the last three movies was that they weren't inventive enough. They just said "Okay, we know Boba Fett is a bounty hunter, Luke and Leia are separated, and their mom dies. So let's show that happening."
Enterprise at least filled in the blanks and offered plot twists, like the Vulcans being jerks. |

Be afraid, be very, very afraid...I'm terrified that they're going to kill Star Wars!!! To an avid fan of Star Trek, the axing of Enterprise was like a shot to the heart. I really liked the storyline and thought it was getting better every season!
If they give us a Star Wars flop it'll be the end of me. |

Lucas killed Star Wars with Eps I-III. Enterprise was just miserable. Temporal time wars, nazi space lizards. Lord. The final season of Enterprise they began to dig themselves out of a hole, mind you. But too little too late. |

Yeah alot of people didn't like the storylines but I enjoyed them. What I didn't like was 3,4, or 5 episodes based on the same story. EGAD! I got sick of that sometimes. Enterprise really bummed me out b/c of its ending. What a major let down! |

True. When the show started and it was all about the early exploration, different discoveries and seeking out new planets and life forms or whatever the hell they say, it was great. As soon as the show started relying on dramatic us versus the new aliens plots and arcs, it went pear-shaped as far as I'm concerned.
And then that finale with Riker and Troy. Let....down....crushed like a bug in the ground....
Any time any show starts relying on: A) Arcs B) Celebrity guests C) Referring too much to it's own previous plots D) Animal sidekicks.. the midriff begins to widen.
The one true exception being Arrested Development(which did all those things for ironic effect--and I am counting Annyeong! as the animal sidekick), which sadly, seems to have finally received it's final terminatory declaration. |
