| The OP is right. They do indeed require a stamp/signature across the sealed portion of the envelope. I can't begin to tell you how stupid this is. Thank God for F-2 visa status. If I had to deal with that all the time, I'd head to Japan/China/Taiwan etc. |

| Oh well. As has been mentioned, it can only help my pay! My university stamps and signs the back flap. No problems here, or ever so far. |

| I just heard from a recruiter this week that immigration has been rejecting everybody with sealed transcripts. Immigration is now requiring sealed transcripts with an embossed seal of the university as part of the seal. On top of this seal a signature of the same person who signs the transcript must be placed. |

First of all, this is bunk. I'm sure that, if there is any truth to it, it was the word of one immigration officer who was being opinionated.
I have been on Dave's long enough to learn to ignore blanket statements made by someone who never posts, but suddenly "appears" out of thin air to tell us all that there is some sort of impending doom. |

I.E., dismiss the following information. |

Got to agree with the guru here.
It's case by case.
Mr. A gets a hassle.
Mr. B gets it done easily.
Ms. C has a bit of a razz but no worries.
Mr. D wonders what the hell is going on.
Mr E. has a boss who knows the people in the office....
Mr F says F--- this I'm off to Taiwan..... |

Well Seoul immigration wouldnt take transcripts that were tamper proof and had a special design. They INSISTED the back of the envelope have the school's stamp/seal.
It wasn't my transcripts, it was a coworkers, but it definately had my boss fighting with immigration. It seems to be a new policy, and IMO is stupid. |

AHH! My school simply puts some sort of gold foil seal with the Uni logo on the back on the envelope. I finally got to speak with the registrar and she flat out refused to sign the envolope.
"The Signiture is digitized on the actual transcripts that will suffice, I can't go making special requests." Do you suppose this will be a problem? Is just the seal not going to work any more? Why are they getting so nutty all of the suddent. Before I didn't have any problems. I heard Taiwan is even worse now and turning down legitimate people too.. |

| Next thing you know, they'll be asking for the University president to make an appearance on your behalf and vouch for the validity of the degree. |

| Fortunately no problem for me. They were sealed, that's all. I'm in Gumi, near Daegu. And got the visa in Fukuoka in under 24 hours. Just needed passport, the "blue form" number, a photo and 6000 yen (Canadians anyway). I was surprised it came off easily; I've come to expect trouble. |

I have an idea....
Why don't someone go to their respective embassy and either get their degrees apostilized or get an affidavid that states you swear the documents that you are about to submit are authentic. Submit all this evidence to the immigration office as proof that the transcripts are real.
It beats having to prove if the seal on the back is real or not.
I knew a close friend who used an affidavid to state that his chinese marriage certificate was authentic, there were no problems. |
