"treating the Korean teachers like crap"
They really have no idea what effect this has, do they? At my old hogwan this became the last straw for one FT who quit and definitely helped push me over the edge, too.
So often we hear apologists saying things to the tune of 'well look at things from the Koreans' perspective'. Yes, how about looking at things from the perspective of a 24-year-old insecure young lady trying to save up enough money for further studies and a trip abroad and please her parents who gets treated like absolute crap by an incompotent, egotistic, middle-aged moron. Or a middle-aged secretary with limited employment opportunities on a tight budget who gets shat on daily for the most trivial things and is owed more than a million in wages by some shyster who couldn't care less.
OP, I'm sure your boss deserved nothing less; I just wish you had taken the initiative yourself and stood up to him in person. |
