This was originally posted on the English Spectrum website (in the announcements section) and thought some of you might be interested in going as well:

The House of Sharing is a safe house for former Comfort Women
(women who were forced into sexual slavery under the Japanese).
On Sunday, April 23rd, we'll be running the second English
language tour of the museum. Until this year, tours had only
been available in Japanese or Korean, so we are excited about
making this amazing place accessible to English speakers.
We are not historians so the tour will be very casual. In
addition to visiting the on-site museum, we will visit some of
the survivors and listen to their stories. This is a wonderful
opportunity to learn about Korea and Korean history.
Monthly Sunday English Tours
April 23, 2006.
May 28, 2006.
June 25, 2006.
RSVP by emailing your name and include your cell phone number
if possible to [email protected] (first come first serve
basis).
We'll send you an email confirming your spot and with more
information. |

Found an article about the Sharing House online at the Korean Times and this quote was particularly interesting:
Quote: |
Yet many Koreans also see the need to be reflective about the history rather than simply anti-Japanese. Keeping in mind that Korea deployed the second largest number of troops after the USA in Vietnam, Song Ju-hyun commented, ``Koreans have also committed these kind of crimes, perhaps when Vietnamese victims of war-crimes come out we need to be ready to pay and apologize to themthe development of history means we have to open up to different stories. |

Thanks for posting this. I saw the article in the Korea Times and was going to go on a visit but mislaid my paper.
