Not true.

Fine. You can only get a legal job with the LOR.

Unless you find a K-girl/guy and marry them. Or unless you give birth to a 1/2 Korean child.......

Any of those happening anytime soon? Didn't think so. You're screwed.

This guy is not screwed, and you don't know what you're talking about. You really do not need a letter of release to get another, completely legit, E2 teaching visa. Do some research and see what you come up with. I've done this before, with no problems whatsoever. It involved two trips out of Korea, instead of just one (or none). My former @ssclown of a boss that I left on was quite pissed at me, for standing up to his BS, and refused to release me. I got a shiny new E2 with no silly LoR. You simply don't have to have one.

(my last post mysteriously disappeared when I gave a lengthy explaination, and I don't feel like writing it again!)

Khyron,

In order to get a new E-2 you need your previous one to be cancelled by your employer and by leaving the country.

If you simply leave and comeback you could be able to get an E-2 if your former employer decided to can your E-2 when you left. If not, immigration (unless they are asleep at the wheel) will not be able to issue a new E-2.

An other option is to have your new employer fix the visa problem himself by going to immigration.

Nevertheless, you do need a LoR to get a new E-2 without the chance of hassles. If the Ops employer wants to be a dweeb about it he can refuse to cancel the visa and then the OP will be in a bind and perhaps have to go to the labor board.

Also, from what we know the OP is just not happy in his job because he was lied to. Now what are the extent of the lies? Are they really lies or just a newbee being unhappy? You know very well we do not have the full story here.

If his employer breached the contract then the OP has a leg to stand on with the labor board. If not, he just might be whining about normal teaching duties. It is hard to tell what the deal is here from the information in this thread.
