| Im two weeks away from arriving in Korea and was wondering if there are some good basketball leagues out there. If anyone has any info please leave me a message. Thanks |

| They have teams made from NBA rejects and Korean players. Not bad though. |

| If you're talking about amt. leagues, I don't know of any, but there are tons of parks in Seoul that have pick-up games just about any day of the week. I get out about twice a week and play. |

I know of a few good places where good players go. Most of them are outside though. The best players go to Yoeido on Sunday afternoons. There are about 5 different courts there with varying ability levels.
There a guy Nick (check the sports page on englishspectrum.com) who is trying to run an expat league on saturday afternoons.
There's another hotel gym that is open on saturday mornings for about 2 hours but it's expensive (15,000 including sauna)
As mentioned there are a lot of courts everywhere, but finding good competition is way more difficult. If your interested, there are a lot of summer 3v3 tournaments coming up this summer that i'm looking to get into, but I need a good team. I've been in two in the past basically carrying the load alone.
If you let me know the area your in, I can possible turn you onto where the good players hang out. |

| I play every chance I get near Hanyang. There are several good courts in that area. I'd be up for some 3 on 3 tourney action if anyone else knows where/how to join. |

While it's thoroughly enjoyable, I have a few gripes about street ball here...figured this is as good a place to air them as any.
Every pickup game I've played here has been "make it, take it".
No one "checks" the ball.
In 3-3 games, they reset at the bottom of the goal instead of at the top of the key.
No 3 second violations.
Subs in a game to 10 points are totally uncalled for.
But my all-time least favorite thing here is.......................the no-look jumping pass. Everyone I play with thinks they're Steve Nash. Drive to bucket, kick it out. Lather, rinse, repeat. |

Between 15 and 27 I mostly played summer ball in the Chicago park districts. No one ever said, "3 seconds!" It was always more like, "Yo, bit(h! Quit campin' under the muh-fu(kin' hoop!" If the guy didn't cut it out, eventually the D would ask for a COP, or people would start fighting. |

HAHA. I've mentioned the 3 seconds thing to people I played with before. I wouldn't call it, but I try to get people to use their conscience a little. I mean, some guys just camp there non-stop. It's ridiculous. The rule serves an important purpose. My least favorite thing is at some courts, people want to play full-court 5 on 5 which I hate because, A. Without a coach and players who are familiar with each other, it is total chaos and B. It just devolves into a lay-up drill because some guys won't get back on defense but think it's really fun to cherry pick at the other end. It's so much better to use a full court to play two games of 3 on 3. |

| So it appears that most of the Bball there is outdoors. I was hoping for some indoor leagues as well. Do you guys know anything about baseball leagues? Hook me up! |

I play on a Korean team in an indoor league based in Ansan. We also arrange games with other Korean teams from all over Seoul through the internet, what's that Korean site everyone here uses?
Anyways, I guess you have to get in good with a crew of guys for them to ask you to play with them in one of these type leagues. There're some great teams and mostly some horrible to not too horrible teams. Honestly, I've never seen sooo many amazing three point shooters in my life as I have here (strictly on the few amazing teams), but that's ALL they can do. Not too hard to shut down with shadow man D.
Yeoyido's good. When you go there as a new guy it's tough to get on a good team, cuz everyone else goes with their friends. You get stuck with the rejects a lot of the time. It's hit and miss. That being said, if anyone wants to join me, let's get a bunch of us together and head out some weekend...
Now is the season.... |

One more thing... I really wanna play the 3 on 3 tournaments here but had no idea last summer how to get into them, and didn't have my Korean contacts then so much, either.
I played a ton of tournaments with guys in Taiwan, but really wanna do it here this summer for sure. |
