|
|
Hi all,
I have written a few poems which only a few people have read. I've gotten some positve feedback about the material and am interested in putting it out there to a broader audience. I really need constructive criticism as I want to get better.
Also, does anyone know of any poetry clubs in or anound Seoul? How about a place to buy poetry books? I will check out What the Book this weekend...any other leads?
I am quite sensitive about what I write and would like to know what others might feel about it. Should I give up?
Take care, all |

Well, all?
For me, I'd be interested to read it on condition it is poetry and not just a load of adolescent tosh. You'd be a brave man though. This forum's infamous for its sadists. If you're sensitive about it, it's probably best not to set yerself up for embarrassment (did I spell that right?)... |

I wouldn't post anything here on-line or either on-line at any of the many critiquing sites........poetry is something personal and unless publishing in a wide forum, best left for the few people you trust.
My advice is to find people who are knowledgeable, have your respect -- to read and offer advice/criticism of your poetry. Online or even at a poetry reading, you will get a lot of "tin gods".....Ezra Pound advized never to believe the words of anyone who hasn't written something you value/admire. ..............
Poetry is a silent world which gives its own rewards outside fame and flaccidity..............as another great poet said, "all any poet needs is 3 readers. Anyone can find 2 but it takes a lifetime to find that 3rd."
good luck and stay pregnant with life......

There used to be a usergroups function on here, but it either isn't working or no one uses it.
You might ask a mod. |

Can you also write tripe?
To the OP: As long as it doesn't have a Christian theme to it, I say post away. Unless you're really sensitive because I'm telling you now, you could be friggin T.S. Eliot and there will still be some a-hole on here who will tell you that you're an unimaginative mental midget.
I think we should all promise right now to give our honest opinions about his (her?) writing and not say anything unnecessarily mean. Agreed? |

I'll start, and hopefully the OP will loosen up and bless us with his inner Keats:
Why don't you even try?
Do you have a foul stomach?
A headache?
Be what you were meant to be
Be a force
Be Arthur
And make me love you
That's dedicated to the Miami Heat, by the way.

I'll post my latest poem if you want.
Who cares if people trash it. I write for me. You too, right? |
