Fun thread. Would love to hear about the cool, outrageous, offers, not so cool stuff people have received for teachers day.
Urban legends welcome! |

It's a tie:
1. A letter written, illustrated and signed, and then rolled onto a scroll, by all 650 students at my old high school.
2. A framed "Bul" (Buddhist symbol) painted in gold and set on a blue background.
3. A beautiful crystal trophy given to me by a group of parents from my old study abroad class: it is engraved with "Mr. My first name, misspelled, Fighting!"
4. Dozens and dozens of irises one year when the kids learned they were my favorite flower. |

My gift is getting a day off on Monday. I think the principal wants to make the teachers scarce just in case someone gets given a Benz or an apartment in Kangnam. It doesn't do to show favouritism, you know.
Suits me. |

This sound lame, but a pair of socks I got last year. I don't know where the little bugger got them, but if I ever find them, I will buy about a million pairs to last my life. I love those socks and I hope they last forever. |

A battery powered portable lantern in the shape of a peenis.
I just uttered a calm "cool" along with a deep breath when I unwrapped it. |

First year in a hagwon my university students bought pizza for my co -worker and I, that was nice. Also recieved lots of things like socks, candy chocolate etc.
This year at a public middle school, the greatest gift imaginabale in the way off a long weekend.
May sure has been nice, so far I have worked only two days this month.....three months into my contract and I still have not had the illusive full week of classes.

Aveda bath salts, they smelled awesome...I didn't have a bathtub though.
I've gotten towels the two years I've been hear so far. What?! You don't think I bathe enough? But they're not even bath towels, they're hand towels. Let's see if I can make it a three-peat this year. |
