I have heard that this needs to be done at the local gu chong. Is this correct? Do I need to report a change of address irrespective of the fact that the housing contract is not in my name (I am staying with my friend) and that I might only be staying here for a couple of months until I find a place of my own? (saving for key money) I have heard that you can be fined a considerable amount of money if you fail to report a change of address after a certain period elapses. Thus, I am a little concerned about it.

| Yoy need to report it to immigration. There is a special form for you to fill out and they will then make an ammendment to you ARC. If you don't do it they are the one who will fine you but the chances of them actually finding out that you have moved is slim to none. Your supposed to do it within two weeks of moving. |

This is misleading. You can also report it at your local gu office or city hall.
To the OP: yeh, you'd not likely get found out over a short temporary move, but I'd say better safe than sorry. Its an easy & free procedure. |

This is one of the times you can play the 'stupid foreigner' card and get away with it.
Yes, you are supposed to tell them, but forget it if you don't want to bother and play innocent when/if someone challenges you in the future.
I've been here 10 years and have never done it. Three minutes of playing dumb has been much more cost-effective than trudging down to any office and filling out yet another stupid form. |
