I'm going to be leaving here in about three months and I've got my desktop to think about. I've put a good bit of work into it and don't really feel like selling it to someone who won't appreciate all the little tweaks and such I've made, so I'm thinking of letting my school have it.

Of course, it'll need to be swiped clean and have Windows reinstalled for Korean language so the people around here can use it. However, at the same time, I'd like to leave a computer in the office with English for the foreigner teachers here.

So I've got the idea in my head to do a dual-boot installation of Windows, one English and one Korean. Anyone have any tips or ideas of how best to proceed with this? There's also a question of using my new HD and RAID, but I think I'll tackle the little problems first.

Get a copy of partition magic and that should help you. Be careful though because the first time I used it I completely fried my computer bios was deleted and nothing would work.

But I have used it since repeatedly without a problem.

Will this require me to reinstall the Windows that I already have on here?

I'm also wondering if I'd be pushing my luck and also doing an install of Win64--how crazy am I?

You don't need to partition your hard drive to dual boot two versions of XP (korean and english). It's simple:

1. Backup your personal files
2. Insert the korean xp disc into the computer while running English XP
3. Follow the instructions (You will be told that you CANNOT upgrade the current version of XP because the languages differ. You must install another version of XP (which is what you want)
4. The computer will reboot and you will be asked to boot from the CD (hit any key)
5. Now here are the important points. You will be asked which partition you want to install xp on (you should have only one) Be sure NOT to delete or reformat the partition...you want to keep your previous xp installation
6. You'll have to choose a new folder name for your windows system folders DON"T leave it as Windows or your new installation will F**K up your old system. Just make a new system folder like windows2.
7. After that just follow the installation directions. When everything is finished you will be given a boot screen on restart and you will be able to select either of the two OS's.

It's a very straightforward process. The only problem you might encounter is dealing with the Korean instructions. If you've been using Korean windows for a long time it won't be that big of a deal but if not you might want to have a korean friend around while doing the install.

Hope it goes good for you.

Cheers

PS: You don't want to install win64 on a 32 bit system. So unless you're sure that you have a 64 bit system (ie. P-4 Dual Core) stick with the 32 bit OS.
