So I've been in Daegu for the weekend. Yes, love motels abound. When I got off the bus I found booby cards outside the door to the hotel at night but removed in the morning. This hotel has vibrators for sale in the vending machine in the hallway (after I paid) and now I can't use my calling card and the lady speaka no English. I thought I was in Amsterdam for a minute. Why didn't anyone warn me about this. I assume it's okay for a foreigner to use the cheap hotel service but I never knew........I am a confused foreigner girl. Is love motel just normal hotel as well or purely for......

Some will allow you to rent a room for the night. Some will not. Those figure on making more by renting out the bed by the hour.

Just check the sheets before you hop in.

Are you saying that you bought a vibrator out of a vending machine and you think that's the reason why you can't use your calling cards? That's the way I understand your sentence. If this is not the case, I really don't think you should worry about vibrators in vending machines. Perhaps you should buy one... sure would make a great souvenir or substitute for a good man here in this country. As for the "booby cards," well get use to that because prostitution is everywhere as well as the sex slave, human trafficking industry. Too bad the whores are all females... no good male whores ... I can assure you of that, newbie.

blahh, don't make me think about that. The motel last night, the after night booby card place, I found a hair attached to the glass in the fridge. used my juice bottle instead. Was scared about sleeping in the bed after hearing weird noises from next door. After I posted this to Dave's, I went to the store to find a ktf card for my cell phone and came back and more booby cards at this place too. I thought about picking them up for a laugh for the guys back home but I think they would notice. LOL. Korea is sooooo weird.

Oh wait, question. Is it love...like honeymoon, lover love, or all darkness of the night love. Or both?

Why don't you go knock on the doors and ask?

Sorry, no I meant after I paid for the room and looked at the room on the first floor. I received my key for the second floor and turned the corner and found the vibrator vending machine (to clear that up). Well, I know that the sex industry thrives everywhere, more places would like to hide it than even allow places like this to project the slightest image that it does exist.

Laughing My VERY FIRST NIGHT IN KOREA was spent in a love motel with pink lights and mirrors on the ceiling! (The joys of signing with a recruiter!! Laughing )

A lot of love motels have "short-term-stay" prices (for the "married to someone else" set, and "overnight stay" prices for those with...um...shall we say "more freedom"?

krisinkorea : You'll have to relax your standards of hygene a little bit while you're in Korea. If you're worried about the toilet, clean it off. Sheets sticky? Carry them down and have the owner provide fresh ones! Hair on the glass? Drink from the bottle, or wash the glass!

Relax. Yeah sure. I relax about someone trying to sell me brown bananas, or my kids picking their noses and trying to hold my hand, or a woman allowing her daughter to urinate on the street in front everyone. My sheets and what I lay my face on...nahh, there's a fine line between grosse and freakin grosse.

Oh you TOO?! LOL. I think this type of thing is the norm here in Korea.

I got to my town at 1am in the morning. They told me the wrong station to get off at. I ended up in a bad area of town where no one spoke English and no phone number to reach the director. I started asking for a hotel, a "taxi" etc. and no one had a clue what I was talking about. All the horror stories about being abandoned came true for me if only for a half hour.

After being on a plane and in airports for over thirty hours, I could have slept in a cardboard box made out of booby cards for all I cared. So my director finally showed up and asked me if I wanted coffee as he gave me the grand tour. All I wanted was a stinking hotel. So I finally got there to the place. I heard sex all night on and off between being passed out and woke up. I couldn't figure out how to flush the "special" toilet that squirted water OUT of the seat and NOT in the bowl. My friends sure got a kick out of my toilet story.

There were Vitamin C drinks in the fridge that I am still addicted to now. Hey, it got me through my first day.

So... why the hell did you think they are called a love motel?

And... they're for anyone willing to pay. I prefer to stay in them as I have often found them to be cleaner than regular hotels . Take a deep breath... you're fine. And at the very least... chalk it up as a story.. hell that is why you came here, right?
