Hi,
Anyone know anything about Gumi and its social life, if there is one? It's near Daegu. I'm just after been offered a position at Yeon Sei language school, has any one heard of this? good news would be great.

Thanks a million

Not many schools have good reputations in Kumi. Having said that, I cannot speak for Yeon Sei language school's reputation. Yeon Sei is one of the bigger schools. There are now three major expatriate clubs: the Rolling Stone, the S-Bar, and Psycho (the latter is operated by American and Korean investors). The Waegook Cook is also there. There is not a whole lot to Gumi. Looking back on my experience in Korea so far, I wish I would have been in Busan. If the contract is good, then that's a start. I would think about pursuing some other jobs if you used Longbridge Pacific as a recruiter though!

If it's Che Yoon Hi Language School, it's an unqualified no.
She will try to make you buy your own textbooks, just to degrade you.
If she decides she doesn't need you any longer, she will fire you over a silly excuse.

I've heard about teachers getting into disagreements with the director at Yonsei, too.
For several months, I took Japanese classes at that school with no problem.
But then when he found out, he expelled me--under the assumption that I didn't know Korean well enough and that I was taking too much class time.

Here is an old thread, in which someone asked the same question:
