How do the new transit card scanners work on Busan buses? They have one on the way in, and one on the way out.

If you are transfering to another bus and you scan on the way out... you may get a discount on the next bus depending on time between busses and the distance travelled.

So, if I'm not doing a transfer I don't have to worry, I just scan once?

That is correct.

No transfer = scan once.
Transfer = scan twice = maybe a discount on your next bus.

A couple of my uni girls told me about the new system yesterday. Apparently, with no transfer, just swipe your card once at the front door as usual. If transferring, swipe again on the way out the exit door. Your next bus is supposed to be free(maybe just a discount? sth may've been lost in translation?) if you catch it within 30 minutes.
