There are several SLPs in Suwon. Pick one.

The SLP (Slave Labor Program) hakwon franchise does NOT have a great reputation so be sure to CHECK the specifics of your school with the current teachers. Get e-mails and check with more than one.

As to the nightlife in Suwon....

If you are in North Suwon, the night life is pretty quiet but you are only a 40 minute bus ride away from the nightlife in Seoul, around Suwon station or Yeongtong or Aju University.

If you are in Yeongtong-dong then you have the Bar strip behind Home Plus and the bars across from Kyung Hee University right there.

Same for the one by Aju University.

If it is the one in Ingye-dong, then you have a pretty good night life but not very many foreigners...

Best I can do without knowing where you are going.

PS - Suwon is the provincial capital for Kyeonggi Province and has a population of just over 1 million... just a quiet little town.

It's sounds like you are in North Suwon. Although I can't speak about that particular SLP, I have some general information that might be helpful.

The SLP I worked at stilll uses a Korean co-teacher system...(in one 80 minute class the Korean teacher teaches for 40 minutes and the foreign teacher teaches for 40 minutes). I do not find this to be a good system....Too much hassle for so little results. I spent most of my time trying to correct what the Korean teacher taught incorrectly.

The Hi-Kids book that SLP publishes are a joke. They are filled with a number of errors. Recently, I was able to view them again, still filled with the same errors. Not to worry, they are proofread by Native English Speakers. Rolling Eyes

Don't expect much help from you recruiter. Again, I can't speak for your particular recruiter. The contract is between you and the school. Your recruiter has no power to make SLP do anything.

There is a lot of non-teaching time involved. Phone teaching, report cards, making new materials, and so on. Kindergarden Foreigners had to work spilt-shifts.... 9:30-1 and 2:30-7:00.

Personally, I think you can do better than SLP. I did work 2 years for them. I was always paid on time. They had an excellent record keeping system and I knew what was exactly being deducted. I had to share housing but the last 6 months got single housing.

Best of Luck,

NK
